Original Starship Design Thread

Right I have come with two designs ideas for my angel ancient ship. These are basic model that I have done tonight, over the past few hours. They are far from omplete. But I have got a problem I cannot decide which one should be the angel. So I am going to ask you lot deside for me.

Well, to untangle this mess, what should I call my design? I'm kind of attached to the name, plus I even named all the ships after archangels . I supposed we could just have two designs under the same class name. And they do have different spelling. What do you all think?

Why not a Seraphim class, or other types of angels.

ZakeD your aurora class i going to look awesome, its really detailed does anyone have the ability or time to attempt wraith ships? because they are much harder than our ships and might give someone a challenge ( cooky? )

Yeah find by me your calss can be called the archangel and my will jus tbe call the angel. I f you agree.

Although I do not use sketch, when I am useing maya I notice that the time flys and often I will not even get to bed before three o'clock in the morning, it adictive. And really they should provide a warning to all users.

History of the Ilustrious class

Designed mainly by the British, constructed at the International Space Shipyard. This is the first double-tiered ship. The ship can act as one ship or disconnect and act like 2. The Ilustrious was designed around 2 years after the Siren Class battlecarrier was launched (circa 2017). The Ilustrious was voted best designed ship for that year. It is hoped it will continually dampened the ori's strength in the Milky Way Galaxy, possibly even forcing them out of the galaxy altogether. The current build time for the ship is 3 years, with the first one ready around 2020. Of course you can't defeat an idealogy, so it is hoped that if the ori are defeated then the captured planets will revolt and expel origin. Adria escaped somehow and continues to lead the ori in this galaxy, however she hasn't got the piece of celestis on her.

I like it DT, its really quite a cool design, especially the two tiered seperation concept, i may steal that concept and do may own varient. I think i have an idea coming on right now

Technical and Historical Notes:
The ATS were designed to be the primary method of troop deployment within the earth military engagements for the future. The war with the Ori and thier ever growing army meant that earth needed more people on the ground fighting them. Just as the jaffa were the galactic footsoldiers of the previous generation, Earth had vowed to make its soldiers the footsoldier of this generation.
The ATS is simply designed to be a method of getting a large force of marines or armed personal from our capitol ships in orbit to the battlefield, quickly, safely and alive.
In additon to being a transport ship the ATS can also be a scout ship, search and rescue ship, "space ambulence" and mobile bunker.
The weapons on the ATS are not formidable but the two different S/A weapon systems make it able to fend off aerial attacks from fighters; while giving troops a secure platform from which to work. There are 3 hatches dirrectly behind the cockpit which give access to the roof, these hatches allow troops to fire from within the craft while still being protected by the 'staff proof' plating and glass systems. The ship, while carrying troops can also be used in much the role helicopters are used in the army today and therefore this is a mulitpurpose craft in the truest sense.
One of its uses in search and rescue, and modification can be made, enhanced sensors, UAV launchers and full rescue gear; ( including teams of dogs and bikes can be taken to the surface) The craft is fully water tight and has powerfull submersive ability ( 800ft below the surface); it also has powerful spotlights at the front to aid in all its functions. The ATS has been made a compulsary support vessel on all our ships because its versitility is limitless when it comes to ground based activty of any kind.
