Thanks everyone for the info, I didn't even realise the thread had been moved as I go to it through my subscriptions!

I will hold off on tallying the first round until say Monday and maybe we will know what is happening by then. In the meantime if anyone has more character additions then please let me know.

I'm thinking of increasing the number of votes per person to 6 to help with the early elimination rounds. Anyone have ideas or comments?

Statistically speaking, if you're starting with 65 characters, then the best number of votes to start with is 5 or 6.

A couple of things you may want to try:

• You may want to separate out SG-1 vs. Atlantis and hold separate tournaments for each. Many people only watch one or the other, or haven't had a chance to see Atlantis. Also, with the exception of Weir and McKay, who've each had roles in just a couple of SG-1 episodes, there is pretty much zero overlap between the two shows.
  
  
• Something other people have been doing in the tournaments is that, before beginning the tournament, we first vote for our favorites - whomever we want (I recommend allowing 6 favorites votes for this tournament) - and every character that's voted for at least once gets included at the beginning of the tournament. That way, we're just voting on things that are actually somebody's favorites, as opposed to voting on every character under the sun. Also, that way, you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving out somebody's favorite character.
  
  If you do this, then you'll probably want to specify whether only recurring and regular characters are allowed, or you'll end up with votes for Urgo included alongside votes for Jack.

That's a good idea. I've just started watching Atlantis and don't know the characters well, so they'll end up voted for when I run out of characters I dislike.
