Just got up from my post-call nap. Very busy night last night, but no babies for me, alas. Babysat an induction all night while running around triage like a crazy woman. But it's all good. We had the A team in L&D last night.

Of course work would not be work without a little absurdity:

Of course, the highlight of my night was early this morning when I had a busting full triage and no labor rooms and people on baby 7 or 8 walking through the door huffing and puffing... a young lady comes in with a note for an induction and was asked to sit and wait for a room. Like I said, busting full. About 30 minutes later she asks me what she's waiting for. I tell her (again) we are waiting for a room to become available for you. Again I tell her, the recovery room will be opened for the day shift. She turns to me and says: Well, if anything happens to my baby, it's on your head. Are you kidding me? Oy. And mind you, even when I'm not feeling it, I always do my job with a smile.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Looking forward to tea and cookies with my midwifery school mentor tonight. It's okay that at my age I still need a little mothering from time to time, right?
