My fear of flying is a border-line phobia It freaks me out, heck even seeing a low flying air plane freaks me out (DC has two air ports right near the city so when we went to DC I was a bit freaked out when the planes were coming in) I'm a worrier I worry about everything, and being 2 hours away from New York City really doesn't help my fear of planes (I was in 5th grde when 9/11 happened but let's just say I've never looked at a plane the same way again ) And it really stinks because one day I'd love to go to Europe
((((Amanda)))) Like Jumble says, flying really is the safest way to travel of all, statistically, but phobias are by their very nature irrational, so I know that doesn't actually help if you're genuinely afraid
Wow, you Europeans really have a different view of long drives than I do! Here, one hour is NOT a big deal AT ALL! We're about to drive an hour to go see a movie and go to dinner for our anniversary! Our families live 3 hours away, which we drive almost every month. I guess the U.S. is so much bigger, we're all used to traveling further(?).
Well, some wise person once said that the difference between the US and the UK is that the UK has history, while the US has geography. Distance just doesn't mean the same in the two places But likewise neither does time - like when I was in DC and visited the oldest building there from 1766, but where I live I go in and out of buildings that are that old and hundreds of years more every day
Then again, that is probably more my city than normal for elsewhere
Jas about your country! You gotta love small countries! They rock! and three days, that's not a lot, but I think we could manage it in three days as well! School has only been too lazy to do so...they prefer sending us to Germany
When you think about it, Canada could probably fit us all in it's back pocket
I think it wood! Or Russia for that matter...China...
Talking of China...reminds me of the story mom told me when she came back from there. She talked with some young girl that worked in a factory. That girl worked there for 49 weeks a year(no weekends and loooots of working) and then she would get two weeks of, for which one week was to travel back to her family, give the money, spend a few days there(a week) and then travel back again...makes our country look small too, if you think that someone has to travel a week! to the family.

Yes they do! Germany? Cool
The farthest they've sent us was Romania (we went to see Dracula's castle )

...I just think it's weird to have to fly across the country. Shopping, university, the beach, the country side, history, amusement... I have it all within an hour from the place in which I was born
Being original is difficult when you can't stop quoting your favorite tv show, For crying out loud!
