Aw LJ, no sad lonely ones here; it's not the Woohoo way. Never say never. Sometimes life has a way of making cool things happen for you.

Oh I do love playing their games. Jordan is right; they usually offer deals and whatever is on the table will depend on what's in their current retention package (I read a lot about this on the MSE forums). Sky didn't even try and negotiate anything with me when I told them I was leaving them (then again, I did also have to inform them that the person whose name the contact was in was deceased because it was one of those things I never bothered to do before now). BT, on the other hand, did at least try and match Virgin's offer with their own TV package.
I have just negotiated a new mortgage deal which will save me £24 a month. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a cheaper energy deal though, but I may ask my provider if they can check my tariff to ensure I am on the cheapest one with them.

Sadly, too many companies are more interested in new custom that retaining old ones. Makes no sense to me; surely you should look after both?

Indeed, and this counts for much.

So I finally saw Star Trek Into Darkness today... spoilering for those who haven't seen it yet.

    Spoiler:
So basically they took some of the elements of the original series Khan story (of The Wrath Of Khan film) and weaved them into a new story. I really liked the way they did that. I particularly liked the role reversal with Spock and Kirk in the "death" scene, and Spock's Cry of "Khan!" like Kirk had done in the now alternate original reality. Oh heck space travel and alternate realities get all confuzzling sometimes.
I also liked the introduction of Carol Marcus (who was the mother of Kirk's son in The Wrath Of Khan) and, generally, all the nice nods to to the original series.

Sadly, I was too engrossed in the film to catch the phallic shaped cloud moment but I am sure there will be videos on youtube and screen caps about as soon as this film comes out on DVD, so something to look forward to.

Next movie on my "watch" list is Much Ado About Nothing - I am ridiculously excited about that.

Yes, me too, both on Star Trek and Much Ado It's showing in two cinemas in Oxford now - the one out of town that I have to drive to from this weekend, and the one just down the road from me in a couple of weeks

Re. Chevron and (un)confirmed guests. Slightly odd, but it sounds like it was a misunderstanding with an agent and so hopefully is just about Robert Picardo (and hopefully he will still come in the end because I'd really love to see him) and the other guests aren't affected.

I'm assuming that tickets can be bought when we get there?

Dare I say that top of my movies to see list is Man of Steel?

Aw c'mon! Kevin Costner is playing Clarke's daddy

Oh heck yes! it looks like an amazing realisation of the Superman myth. Ewan and I looked at each other as the trailer came on and went "let's see that next!"
I just realised today that I am on EE and get the 2 for 1 Orange Wednesdays deal now... so I think Ewan and I have decided to get some culture, since he's always off on Wednesdays, and we're going to go see these flipping films we're always going "oh I so want to see..." about.

But first Much Ado. Think I will be doing that one on my own though.

I think we can buy at the place, Jumble, but if you want to order something up front, I can do it (think I am going for the pic with AT) and deduct it off what I owe you for Chevron 8.1

Just heard from Suz that she's keen to see it too - just the mention of Kevin Costner was enough to make her jump at it! It looks to be a much darker version than the ones Christopher Reeves did.

Yes please - I think maybe the MS/AT talk will be popular, so probably best to get it beforehand.

I've just discovered that there's an advantage to being.... er.... the age I'm soon going to be - free drugs!!!

If you were a Londoner you'd also get an Oyster card for free public transport.

Of course I already have a red one that says "retired" on it. As much as I love my freebie travel, I wish it didn't say that word!
Actually, truth be told, I'd give anything to have the old green "dependant" one back, even though I was never actually very dependant on Charles...

I will PM you (tomorrow) about what you want to book. Or probably email since my inbox is almost permanently full these days.

It is just possible that my birth certificate has the wrong date on it, right? By at least 15 years.............

But I don't use trains or buses more than once in a blue moon Why can't they give me fuel vouchers instead?

I don't know And I think the cold weather payment only clicks in after the temperature has been below a certain number for 7 consecutive days

                                *runs off to google*

                                Edit: Doesn't look like it

Gah! If I have to be this age I really feel that somebody somewhere should be paying me to accept it gracefully

Oh look! Me and 'gracefully' in the same sentence - that's a rarity
