Actually... 11. I went to school with his sister and I first met her when I was 11 so probably met him some time around then too. But he was the first person who ever bought me booze. Being a few years older and old enough to buy it, when we were about 15 we used to send him up the shops for a bottle of sparkling perry (or some other rubbish) and then go sit over the park and get tiddly.

You're very convincing - you should take up acting as a career
But... but I iz innocent I tells you.

Yes, I think one's level of merriment depends more on the people you are with and the atmosphere created than it does on actual alcohol content I was once arrested for dancing on a castle wall because the cops were convinced I was drunk or high on something. I was actually the only one not drinking that night because I was the designated driver
I can imagine. If everyone is having a good time, then it's not hard to join in. A little booze can help lubricate those who need help loosening up, but for those shameless ones like me, we just dive on in.

I was often to be found down the local pub when I was 14, and I was never asked my age I don't think they bothered so much way back then

      See? Soooo convincing!

It's often more fun to watch the lubricated ones from a sober point of view

And please don't tell my kids I admitted to that ^^^ - they thought I spent the night with a friend, which is a lot more acceptable than spending it in a police cell

Oh yes, I love watching drunk people from the perspective of not being drunk. So funny!

I was also a pub goer... probably at 15 though. Up until then I was a good girl but then I discovered boys and kissing and booze and all bets were off. never once got asked for id until I was, actually, old enough. Last time I got asked for it I was 34. Quite an ego trip that one!

EDIT: don't worry; you're secret's safe with us.

Oh I made up for it in a very short span of time, trust me. And haven't stopped since.

I nearly got you some Jumble but wasn't sure if it was the right stuff. Didn't have salt listed in the ingredients though so I figure it must be. I daresay I will be back there some point this week, since I forgot most things today. As usual.

As long as it hasn't got salt in it, it's the right stuff

I no longer forget things when I'm shopping because I've discovered the Memo function on my phone - sorted!

Love them, but now my lime one makes no sense.

Never mind, I'll just have another drink!

                        Er, tea, by the way.

Ok I will pop out tomorrow and get some along with all the other bits I forgot.

I can't believe how you (Jumble) and Cags are talking - really???? You love licorice that much? hehe!

When I was 21 I looked about 15 and couldn't walk into any place that served liquor without my id. Before that - forget it. My drinking days started when I went off to college (at 17) - never really cared before that. Rarely drank in my 40's and 50's and then I started getting friends from the UK..... drinking has gone way up. Now I realize why!

Mission Get Jumble Liquorice has been a success. 6 packets, so you won't run out too soon. You owe me... er, well nothing actually because I owe you a fiver so we're square.

Don't blame us for your booze habit Laurie. to be fair, I bet your liver is in overall better shape than mine. I took one look at my family... mental illness on one side and alcoholism on the other; figured if I had to go one way or the other then the way of the bottle was probably the happier choice. I've dabbled with the mental thing and it's not for me; I'd rather be a bit of a lush, ta.
