Back at work now...only today and tomorrow left and then finally VACATION!
And since my project ended and I'm wrapping things up at the office...I feel the need to be on GW
*hugs* My throat hurts as well...but that's from all the talking I did the last few days
I have no idea...but it flew by. Can't wait to go back and see my family and friends again! My entire week is already booked
I certainly do hope so!
I agree, but in my family it was almost always a topic to not talk about...after grandpa died we got a few things from him during the war(his tags, a razor that kind of stuff) but in general he never talked about it.
Grandma on the other hand said later on that she thought the Germans weren't that bad. They were always nice when they came in the bakery of her parents....I got from her later on in life a little German dictionary that she used to understand the German soldiers.
It's just interesting to see how different people go about it. I'm just in general not a war-movie kind of person; I prefer peace and love.

But good to hear you always heard stories about it from your family.
So true!
*huggles back*

Jann, good to have you back in Atlanta!
I can't believe you're going home next Monday. Where has the time gone?

Both my grandfathers fought during WWI, my father and five uncles fought in WWII. They all told us stories, some funny, some horrendous, and like I said I grew up with war films - so I guess I'm more used to it being shown and discussed openly. I know how awful it was, but I also know (and am very proud of) the spirit, grit and will that pushed people onwards and helped them to survive.

I fully understand that not everyone has had the same experience, and that the scars of war can be passed down through the generations and colour people's views and feelings.
Indeed they did, but I do get what you mean *hugs*
