For insurance-less options, I'm sure you've though of this, but have you considered acupuncture?

I have used acupunture before with injuries and it works really well. But the problem with my hands unfortunately can't really be helped with that. I may need surgery (if there is such a thing) or possibly bone replacement....I'm not sure what they do these days. It will all depend on the costs.
I am walking over there (if it doesn't rain too hard) in about 15 mintues or so.....then I'll know something (maybe)!

Hmmm. Just noticed the time. I need to get ready to go out. Have a doctor's appt today. I have finally decided I need to see someone about my poor hands. The arthritus seems to be getting worse. Awrny stuff! Not sure they can do anything, but I found out one of the best hand/orthopedic surgeons works on the Island once a week. They're trying to expand their practice or something. Anyhow, got an appointment with him for this afternoon. So no Aleve today. I only hope he can do something and not to expensive. No insurance for another 15 months! So everyone, please, think good (and inexpensive) thoughts for me today!

Oh and because it is so close, I'm going to walk to the doctor....less than a block away.

I know some people cringe at the thought of chiropractors, ... but have you visited any of them?

I had a serious back problem for many years, which none of the MDs could figure out the cause of. Luckily I found an excellent chiropractor who not only figured out the problem, but fixed it. I went from a pain level of about 7 every day to less than 1 within weeks and have had no back problem since then.

I had a serious back problem for many years, which none of the MDs could figure out the cause of. Luckily I found an excellent chiropractor who not only figured out the problem, but fixed it. I went from a pain level of about 7 every day to less than 1 within weeks and have had no back problem since then.

I have gone to chiropractors for my back and they can be very good. However, I'm not sure what a chiropractor can do for my hand.

I have talked with the doctor and I guess I'm going to have surgery on my right hand. Not sure when I can do it. If it is too expensive I'll have to wait until medicare kicks in which isn't until Feb 2012. His office is going to call me tomorrow with quotes. Either way, I'll have to have it done or eventually loose most of the functioning of that hand....not something I want to happen! Right now it is only functional at about 65%. Trust me, I wouldn't do this if there were another way. Surgery and I have not always been compatable.

I go to mine every 2 weeks for back maintenance, since my job tends to be tough on my back. Love him dearly. I don't know if most chiro's do hands tho.
