As a sometimes lurker - at the speed this thread goes I don't always have time to read it all - 3 pages in 2 hours doesn't feel like silence lol, but then there was a lot of talk of PTB booty

Evening Woohoos.

I hope any newcomers/well-wishers don't mistake our apparent high spirits for insensitivity. When my mom died, I would come here and everyone would be having a wild time and trying to cheer me up with picspam and whatnot, and even though I was still in anguish I would find myself smiling. That's all we're trying to do...

You're doing an awesome job of it too.

Seriously, thanks for the laughs. It's been a bit of a day for that all told. It started at the registrars office where we were shown into the "lavender room" - except it was really exactly the wrong shade of lilac to be soothing (and had an annoying hummy flickery strip light and an empty tissue box just to, y'know, make the bereaved rellies feel really at ease! )
Then there was the funeral directors and much hilarity over the thought of stick Charles in a coffin with a picture of The Last Supper on the inside of the lid. I kid you not, there was one on offer. I mean, religious, he wasn't - it'd pee him off something rotten, but only marginally less than if we'd swapped it out for a picture of a speed camera in there. Since he specialised in being antagonistic (with a smile on his face) it's be only what he deserved.
There's other stuff we're giggling about still, which I won't tell you all of since it might spoil the surprise but one thing Charles always told me (and everyone else who would listen... ad nauseum as it happens) is that he wanted to be there at his wake - he wants his coffin to be used as the bar for his funeral... um, so, well, that's sorted. He's coming home on Thursday, we'll have a bloody good party that night, drink a drink or ten to him, probably crack open the coffin and pour a couple of scotches in there and then the funeral is on Friday 12th. Do you think I'm joking about cracking open the coffin... hah, you haven't met the family!

Well, no, I NEVER want to ad spoiler tags to Joe! *hugs Joe* Should I do a pic spam of him and let Cags snuggle w/ him while I try very, very hard not to get jealous? yes? AWESOME!

I think she should be forced to LOOK at them AND comment on how gorgeous he really is. Now that would make me feel so much better.

I stop one stop short of demanding Jumble say RDA is better than Martin because even I'm not that cruel... and anyway, he's not.

A few weeks ago when we had a fuel promotion, a customer asked me, over the phone: "I've got a fuel voucher here that expired yesterday, can I still use it?"

Yeah, yeah. Customers are (mostly) idiots. I had one complaining at me once because we ran out of frozen turkeys. This was Christmas eve. After I'd pointed out the obvious that we'd had a bit of a run on them lately for some odd reason, I also pointed out the fact they couldn't get it defrosted in time for tomorrow's dinner anyway.
Then there was the customer who put £10.01 of fuel in, came in clutching a wad of notes and slapped a tenner down expecting to get away with the penny. Then gave me the most enormous grief because I insisted he pay it. If he'd stuck the rest of his notes away before peeling off the tenner and gave it to me with the apology and ascertation that he had no other cash I'd have waved it off and wished him a good evening.
Then there was the customer (Christmas eve again) that compained we'd run out of ready roll pastry... then was gobsmacked when I told her how easy it is to make with fllour and butter.

Yeah, customers are idiots.

What they ^^^^ said Cags is currently swinging back and forth between serious and silly, so I'm sure she will appreciate both

That darn penny seems to make customers whinge the most! You'd think it was a £20 note the way they carry on. lolol.
