*agrees with Josi* First semester(except exam week) of my uni got me so down I thought I needed to switch majors, because this was never going to work for me....and look at me now...I'm halfway across the world and got selected for that!
Seriously, you just have to keep going, think positive and remember why you're doing it. Then it will all work out and you'll probably be the best of your class(because you're a very smart girl Wendy). I told you that before and I'm saying it now again! (the smart thing I mean)

Thank you, Jann. That's what I had always thought, that you need some classes first.

I hope you get your dutch food soon *hugs*

Josi - thank you. I think I'd cry on my first assignment regardless what it is. I haven't studied in years. *hugs*

        Aww. Thank you
I don't need to be the best in the class though. Just the best I can do

I'm gonna do my best to remember what you all have said here today the next time I have a massive freak out over it

I know, and that's bound to make it more daunting. *hugs*

My mum's actually starting an OU course in November - not a full degree course, just some kind of 12 week foundation course (she's trying it out, and isn't sure at the moment whether she'll take it further) - and she's also worried for a lot of the same reasons as she hasn't done any studying for years.

Yeah........ I wonder whose pic I was looking at when that popped out

Need to tell my brain to stop overthinking then

Exactly! Tell it to chillax, as Lee wood say

Knowing the thing is already there(with all my dutch food) and not being able to get it is frustrating...to say the least...*sigh*
            Aw, that's a pain *hugs*

Wendy GOOD LUCK! If I forget to say it on Saturday! I know you'll be awesome. oh and don't worry about the people who already started. I know some people in here already started before classes, but it didn't make a difference once the classes started. For some stuff, to make it correctly, you just have to wait till a lecture or so.

*huggles, once again, her other fellow woohoos* I just love doing that.
Wendy, take that from one who knows

Also, Wendy, don't worry if you find the first couple of assignments really difficult. They're designed to stretch you and most people struggle at the start, no matter what they might say on any forums! I can guarantee that it will get easier, as you get more comfortable with what is expected of you and with studying and learn more. I remember on my first assignment at uni I got 1 out of 10 and thought I'd never ever do it. But the course is designed for you to learn, and to improve, and your tutors want you to succeed, and so you will.
            What she ^^^ said

You got 1 out of 10???? I can't believe that *faints*

Well if you ever need reminding, just come in here and whinge and we'll remind you

Edit: Josi, kudos to your Mum! I doubt I could ever successfully study anything anymore. My brain is so choc-a-block with stuff that anything new just falls straight throught the cracks

Wendy, you're going to do very well. Don't take any notice of the forums, and definitely follow the amazing advice of these wonderful Woohoos!!

Off to rehearsal for this play I'm going to be working on. Jumble it's called Good Things by Liz Lochead. Very good, and also quite funny if the read through last night was anything to go by .

Josi huge credit to your mum! What will she be studying?

Oooh! It sounds interesting, I just googled it....

Good Things is a poignant, hilarious play with a lot to say about finding love later in life.
Can I play Susan? I mean...

                  Spoiler:
it promises a happy ending. I'd like one of those

I know what it is to feel like your over your head (I'm taking 7 classes and I'll soon start working ).
My best advice is to not stress out and to take things at your own pace.

Oh and if you feel stressed out or frustrated I recommend coming here and doing whatever makes you relax

*huggles Jann* Did you get your yummy dutch food yet?

I did, for my first French prose (translation into French). It came back absolutely covered in red pen But thankfully the other people in my class also did really badly and we all got better each week

Thanks both, and Wendy too! She's going to be studying Maths, which sounds terrifying to me, but I'm really proud of her for giving it a go

Ah Maths, that's probably the only subject I could manage since I have one of those brains that 'sees' numbers and figures them out without any conscious effort on my part. But then, what wood be the point?

Oooh! Forgot to say.......... earlier today my 3-year-old was singing along to California Girls. Got to the 'sex on the beach' part and she asks me 'What's that?'. Um....... so I tell her it's a cocktail, a mixture of different things to make up a nice drink.

I see her thinking, and then she asks 'What's a cock? You said a cock's tail, so what's a cock?'.

Of course I clarified the whole thing for her, including what a cockbird is, but it was really difficult since I was trying sooooo hard to keep a straight face and not dissolve into hysterical giggles
