Oh poo, I knew my timezone calculator was skew-if. I forgot to add any hours at all! IDIOT! Here I am, five minutes to 8pm, looking forward to the arty awards and...oops, it's not GMT! Unfortunately, I will be asleep at 8pm GMT (boo hisss!!!!!!!!) but I will definitely catch the action on its repeat playing...when I'm finished my ballet class tomorrow Huff....maybe I should make something for someone to post for me, to pretend I was there...
*hugles Oma because she can...and because she really likes her hair*
Spoilered cos it's UK politics - and that's not something everyone is interested in - including me
Spoiler:
Cags - that voting link was not helpful The policies I agreed with on the three things that I consider most important were split across all three parties I hate to say it, but I'm almost rooting for a hung parliament so that more debate is made necessary and no one party can push through their own agenda. But that's a whole other chaos all of its own
One thing I am most definitely sure of, politics sucks!
Edit: I've come to the conclusion that regardless of how poorly one of my kids is, I'm better off being at church on a Sunday morning because I make far too many typos when I post instead!!!!
*huggles Bekki for being asleep during the awards* Timezones suck
*huggles Oma back* (I thought it would be a bit icky to write 'my vocal cords huggle Oma back* )
Right, about to head off for the final rehearsal and then the concert... wish me luck and I'll be back later on, hopefully in time for the artwork awards if not too much after!
Ooops sorry Oma. *huggles* And *huggles* for your poorly little one too.
Politics boring waffle
Spoiler:
I had something of that problem in that the issues that mattered most to me were slipt evenly across Labour and Lib Dem. I didn't have one Tory in mine and I have a burning desire to punch Cameron in the face every time I see him so I guess that narrows the chopices for me to two.
(Can I just say, I don't hate David Cameron per se - he just has quite a punchable face, I think. I'm sure he's a very nice man with great policies and all; even if I don't agree with them, apparently).
Frankly, I am rooting for a hung parliament. I know that sounds like madness but, when you look at the damage having such a huge majority party in charge has done the last 13 years - and all the years before that with the Tories - a government able to push through any law it likes without much debate in the matter at all, and not all of those laws have been well thought out or wiht our best interests at heart (the Digital Economy Bill and "rush job" criminalising drugs due to knee jerk reactions to name but a few recent examples). At least a hung parliamentt will mean that the laws and policies that get implemented will undergo a good deal of discussion and review before they are forced upon us, and at least we know that the politicians will be sitting there fully aware they're jobs are under real threat if they don't deliver sound and reasoned policies that the British public want and support.
I also think the only ones who are dead cert winners in all of this are the Lib Dems, even if they don't win oveerall. If the current trend continues (which will largely depend on the next debates) then they've managed to swing the undecideds and win votes from both main parties and others enough to almost gaurantee a hung parliament. No matter what position they come in at the end, they're going to be the one party that has gained the most amount of power from the whole sitation:
If they come in first with a majority they form government.
If they come in first with no overall majority, the third placers will form an alliance with them.
If they come in third, they will be the party that has to chose who to ally with to form government.
The only scenario in which they might be pushed out, would be one where they place second and the Tories and Labour form an alliance. Honestly, can you ever see Labour and Conservatives jumping into bed with each other if there's another option? It could happen, I suppose, and their policies aren't so different as to make it impossible but I don't think it would happen.
Lib Dems have got their name firly front and central in British Politics which is something they've not been able to do up until now.
It should be very interesting to see the impact of the next live debates on the mood of the nation though; things can change drastically on the strength of one wrong word.
And that's my battery almost dead. Do I go in and be geek like or sit out in the sun watching Benjabubs playing with the kids next door? Hmm, difficult choice. Not!
*realizes that UK politics sucks just as much as US politics* I totally did some research on your guys politics so I'm not completely confused.
Good luck Josi!
I'm so bummed that I have to be at church for most of the day and I'm going to miss most of the artwork awards because I won't be home till 8 pm my time. I might be able to get in for a few minutes, not sure. *long suffering sigh at church obligations*
Cags, will tell about the boy sometime tonight.
Edit- Oma, I make so many typos because I'm not getting ready for church too! It's a conspiracy!
