Just watched an old ep of The Incredible Hulk It was this one. What was cool about it was that there was a guest star who looked scarily like Paul Mullie! And plus, when things were getting more exciting and reporters were showing up (along with the usual Hulk-stalking reporter who looks like he's ready to collapse at any moment ) I was almost sure I saw a news guy who looked like Damian, complete with wild hair! Plus he was clean-shaven, so he looked like the old SG-1 Damian

I think I've seen too much of these guys...

Another OT Rant

As for my dad, my family has been keeping secrets from me because I live so far from them and they thought they were helping me. The reality is that while they were all very calm I was freaking out.

They have known about my dad's cancer for awhile now. For them it was something that they had already dealt with and they assumed that I would be okay because it was after the fact. How could they not know that I would be affected by the C word? Anyway, he has skin cancer and he already had two large lesions removed. I never even knew he was in the hospital. Long story short, his doctor is pretty sure she got all of the cancer; excuse the grossness but she had to go deep. Now he has to be diligent in checking his skin for any signs of new spots that "don't look quite right". All I keep thinking about is what if he had died?

When my mom died they had done the same thing, when she was really bad at the end they didn't tell me and as a result I was the only one who wasn't there when she passed and that haunts me to this day. I had been there only a couple days before but on the day, they knew and didn't tell me. I could have made it up there in time. With dad it could have happened again and I just feel so angry. I am relieved that he is okay but angry at the "we were only trying to protect you" BS.

I'm glad to hear that your dad's doing all right I don't think I would've taken an 'after-the-fact briefing' very well myself. I do know a few people who would've probably done the same thing, and I think it awfully unfair. But at least things are better! *hugs*

I couldn't respond individually because it's so much to multi-quote but I really appreciate that you all took time to let me know you were there.

Nik *hugs* for hubby being gone another week. We seem to have a lot of dual things these days. Charmaine comes home tomorrow night and leaves for New Hampshire again on Sunday. Then Minnesota again the Sunday after and New Hampshire again the Sunday following that...um..who was I talking about again?

Jumble- for the record, posting the pic of Anderson's desserts was just...heartbreaking *sobs quietly*

Sarai- Thanks for hugs and super good luck on getting the job. As for the other stuff, my sister and I had strong words about the "for your own protection" thing and we did work it out like you did with your sister. The hardest part is getting them to realize that just because I am not with them doesn't mean i will fall apart at bad news. I am a fairly strong person and I do what everyone else does when faced with a a crisis-I deal with it and end up okay. BTW- Love the avi and sig, especially the left side.

Thanks Teal'c I think I made things clear to them about that especially when my sister told me this afternoon that his skin cancer was the worst kind. Another "after the fact" tidbit that was left out.

I haven't a hope of catching up. I have been popping in and out but I haven't been very chatty this week. Mostly down to... see below.


But first I just want to liberally litter the Woohoo thread with massive super squishy huggles, with more than generous portions landing on Bree, Sara, Bekki, LJ, Oma Nik and Wendy right now.

Bree extra squishy hugs for your dad too, and positive vibes. Positive vibes Positive vibes.


Sarai extra positive vibes for the job. Leaving your last job was the right thing to do and, if you have to take a similar position for now... that's right for you right now. You're starting from stracth with a new employer (hopefully, fingerscrossed) and you can set the ground rules nice and early. And you've conquered the initial fear of quitting so, when time comes, you will fulfill your potential.

Uhhmm... have I missed anything important? Was there nekkidness and brocolli waving and protests staged? (peaceful of course) If there was then I'm goign to blame Nad because it's usually her fault.


So, sorry, I have been ultra busy this week with family stuff. This time last year I was three quarters of a way through a litre of cheap, nasty brandy, matching my best friend drink for drink as we knew the next day the inevitable would happen. Her mum - the lovely lady I called mum2 and, by somewhat convoluted family politics, happened to also be my wonderful sister-in-law - was going to die. We knew the next day she would be gone. We have to thank the wonderful care of the hospital for keeping her alive long enough for us all to say our goodbyes.
So this year, tomorrow (uh, today actually since it's now gone 1am) we're finally taking her ashes and scattering them on my husband's parent's grave. I've been sort of dreading it but it will be cathartic and, I hope, it will be the end of an absolutely horrible 12 months for us all.
I made a slideshow for my SIL last year, after she died, so I made another one for her today, to show her legacy, which is the love that lives on in the hearts and souls of those who love and miss her.
So that's what I've been doing; scanning in pictures and sorting them and selecting ones I think would work and making and re-making stuff. Busy, kind of fun, but kind of sad too.
