Take this afternoon.... Suz and Mike turned up unexpectedly which was really nice as I haven't seen them for a while (because of the snow ), but ten minutes into their visit she calmly mentions that Wrex bit her this morning....

And you are not redundant. You and I wood never see our mums like that, but you care. Trust me, that's a start .

Definitely DEFINITELY worth seeing in 3D.

Utterly amazing in 3D. You know how when they have this neat little trick (like 3D is) and they just have to play it up by making the scenes about the 3D aspect rather than the story? Well, you don't get that here. The 3D compliments rather than dominates.
I actually thought the story was a bit heavy handed anti military / eco warrior tranascendental in places. None of it was hugely original and it was all rather predictable. I'd more or less worked out the entire plot inside about 20 minutes. Oh and some of the dialogue would have George Lucas weeping with pride it was *that* clunky. However, it was still awesome. Why? Well because even if it's cliche and predictable plotwise, it's still a cracking good tale and interesting enough to entertain...and when it looks this good... how can you not love it? There's absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of style over substance when the style is done with such panache.
I saw an interview with Sigourney Weaver on the red carpet at the premiere and she said every penny of its making was on screen for the audience to see and, yes, it absolutely is. I think they really have raised the bar in terms of CGI here.

Oh yes, the plot was incredibly predictable but you know what, I loved it anyway!! Because it was predictable. And because it didn't hide that fact. Avatar is unashamedly poking fun at itself; it's over the top but it knows it is and just has fun with it ! I knew nothing about the story when I went so was a bit shocked to see Sigourney Weaver in it but her performance did give it a bit of weight I guess. And it should definitely be on track for some awards in CGI and special effects, just stunning to look at. I read a review, can't remember who from possibly Mark Kermode (or commode as I like to call him - snotty, weasley, greasy...*ahem*) who said that it was awful CGI because it was too fantastical and unrealistic. But that's the whole point it's not supposed to be realistic!!! It presents this kind of other-word quality on purpose which I think a lot of people don't get!

*sigh* A great breakthrough in filmmaking IMO. Well done James Cameron!

To be fair, Wrex didn't mean to bite her. She was climbing over the gate and the other horse that's in the field pushed against her and Wrex went to stop it but caught Suz instead And she wonders why I'm scared of horses

I don't think I'm qualified to answer that, but in the words of Teal'c, loving your child should be the one thing that isn't complicated.
