Just poking my head out of the pile of packing boxes long enough to add my name to the chocolate party list.

My plane leaves on Monday. This time three days from now, I'm going to be officially living in England.

That sentence still doesn't make sense inside my brain. I've never lived anywhere except my home town.

Yeah... Surreal is the right word. Happily, I won't be all alone at first. One of my friends offered to help me haul my luggage when I said I was moving. When I pointed out that England isn't close to home, she replied that she has a passport and a need to see somewhere she's never been. We're sightseeing in London for a week before I continue on to Portsmouth. Her parents are flying in on the same day and they're taking two weeks to go gallivanting around together.

International student induction is the week of the tenth, then there's a week of regular new student induction. I think classes start on the 24th. My first trip home is just before AT6. I figured you guys are fun enough to take the sting out of leaving home again just in case I get homesick. ;-)

completely off topic.....someone wrote a book about my mother and her life with polio. it's called "The Third Step" and was just released on amazon and on kindle. cool, huh? i'm gonna wait till they make it a movie. i wonder if amanda will be available to play me?

I have some of the best friends ever!

I texted the friend I was supposed to roadtrip down to see for our holiday this week. She's already booked the week off and had planned outings for us, including surprising her son at college... we haven't seen each other in months, and aren't likely to again for quite a while because of work schedules

The prob is that I'm sick. Like couldn't make it through work last night, and had to be escorted home b/c my coworkers didn't trust me to drive home on my own, and I live literally less than a 10 min drive away. Went to the clinic this morning and came home with antibiotics, a steroidal inhaler, and doctor's note keeping me off work til next week. Seeing as putting on a pair of jeans winds me enough that I have to rest before I can finish getting dressed, a solo road trip across several states is NOT exactly in the cards

Her first response: get better woman!!!
Her second response: hey look at the upside - at least it's happening now and not in November

The crazy thing is no matter how disappointed she is about the abrupt change in plans (and she is, I can tell, and frankly, so I am!), she honestly meant that, b/c she knows how much my trips to England and hanging with you lovelies means to me.

Ames, I know exactly who you're talking about and it cheers me to read this. You both have such an amazing bond. Sorry about your 'change in plans' but hopefully some other change in plans later will get you down to see her soon. *hugs*

where were some of the places you had hoped to go to in Wales? I'm spending an extra day in Bath and was thinking of some train day trips from there.

If anyone else has any ides feel free to chime in. You have already given me some good ideas.

we were going to stay in cardiff. there is a castle right in cardiff. there are a few a short train ride from cardiff, depending on how much time you have. there is a dr who exhibit if that interests you. i can find my info and tel you which castles are close-later

Does anyone know how to cut hair? My hairdresser taught me to cut my own side fringe today so I could do it in Nepal. I'm worried. Will be due for a trim in November (hint hint pretty please ).
