    Should Todd join SGA?

Hes cool and has good chemistry. Seriously all they have to do is catch an enemy wraith every couple of weeks for him to eat and hell be fine. Lol imagine him on a mission and hes all 'brb gonna go eat that guy over there' /wraith screams from the treeline.

I dont envy the actor under all the makeup tho.

    What do you think?

Maybe save it for another seasons dark ratings boost? This season on atlantis: dark cannibalistic alien monster joins team!

Todd needs to stay a gray area character so that he can either be an enemy or a friend. He also should remain a recurring character.
I'm not an actor. I just play one on TV.

I agree - I REALLY want to see him in the next season...and beyond. I also would like to see him help out on missions. As far as being in every. single. episode...I don't know. I'D love it - but for some viewers, it might be TOO much. I think he's more thrilling when he just shows up, out of the blue...kinda like when a rock star walks unexpectedly into the room...

I posted these thoughts in the Wraith Defenders thread - will repost them here:

"Yes - and no. I like how Todd's been helping out - that's been handled well. So, perhaps have a Wraith that - for special missions and such - helps them out, but lives off-Atlantis. That way, he can feed at will, without causing any problems for the Lanteans.

"Think of it this way - let's say there is a lion living in your back yard. You know it only eats meat, but there is NO way you - personally - are going to feed it bunny rabbits. So, instead of caging the lion and feeding it yourself, you let the lion roam free, finding its own food without you - personally - having to see what that lion is feasting upon. All you have to worry about is NOT being the lion's next meal, so you take the necessary precautions.

"I think the same could be done here. Have a Wraith who is an ally - Todd, preferably - help out on the occasional mission. But let him roam free, finding his own food (hopefully choosing remote feeding grounds that will not interfer with civilizations already contacted by the Lanteans). All that Shep & Co. have to do is know where he is (tracking device), and how to contact him. That way he can be summoned when his help is needed, then sent away afterwards to fend - and feed - for himself."

And that's how I feel. Let him come and play with the humans - but also let him be free to feed the way nature dictates to him. To strip him of his true nature would ruin his appeal as Wraith. Keep him a life-sucking threat, so that - when he is around on Atlantis, he must be guarded, and - perhaps - wear a locked restraint over his feeding hand - something like he wore in Common Ground, just not so easy to get off. That would constantly remind the viewer that - without his 'hand muzzle' on, he just MIGHT bite...

But why would he want to do that?

Who is Todd? They shouldn't have a Wraith join the main cast, they're better off as recurring characters.

            Spoiler:
Todd's the Wraith we captured in 'The Seer', he also helped McKay with the replicator code in MC and convinced the Hives to join us in our battle against the Asurans in BAMSR

He's the Wraith originally from "Common Ground" and in recent episodes like "Spoils of War". He seems fairly unique, in that, while like other wraith in the past, he's willing to help Atlantis to further his own agenda, he has yet to actually double cross them or generally try and screw them over.

Key word here is - 'yet'. I sure hope he remains an ally...but without becoming too trustworthy. But first, we gotta get him into season FIVE!

I like his character a lot and think it adds good character to the show, but wouldnt want to see him as a permanent ally, maybe kind of like a ba'll character, helps when its conveinent to him and us. but would like to see him occur in storylines now an then.

Maybe he should be like Quark on Deep Space Nine. Not necessarily a good character, always on the verge of betraying or otherwise screwing them over.

I was kinda disappointed that Todd survived Spoils Of War.

He may have been helpfull until now but we should never forget who or shall I dare say what he is? He is a wraith with a taste for us humans. Therefore we should be carefull. I believe that he will betray Atlantis soon.

Hmmm really. I was glad he made it.
I really hope they don’t go killing him off, but if they decide to then I hope it won’t be as stupid a send off as Kolya’s.

As for joining SGA, no I wouldn’t want him joining either.
He’d end up losing the edge he has as the rogue Wraith (who currently answers to no one--the way I prefer him) if he decided to take up residence with Shep and Co.

Don't know how I missed that first time around! Surely, a teaser like that would bring in tons of viewers!

I, too, like the idea that he helps when it's convenient to him. That's what makes him so interesting...you get the idea that he's NOT just helping humans to be nice, but to gain something.

For one, he now KNOWS Teyla can control a Wraith's mind, even a queen's. I wonder if that will play a role in upcoming episodes...

HEE!! That'd work! And - thank god - he's SO much better looking than Quark - much easier on the eyes. I don't want to see Todd watered down like Worf was, I want him to maintain a REAL edge - an unpredictability - that can only make the character more and more interesting...IF the writers continue to use him.

evil person!!! lol. I agree - humans need to be careful, but you have to realize that his 'taste for humans' is NOT a perversion, or something twisted and evil - it is simply his nature, JUST like a tiger or lion hungers for meat. Unless you can change a Wraith's biology, he will always hunger for humans. Is it right to starve a being to death, simply because he can only find nourishment from one source? Somehow, someway, a solution has to be found...a way to satisfy the Wraith's hunger, without annihilating human populations.

The fact that a human-feeding creature is now your ally - wow - what that ADDS to the storyline possibilities. Not only the stories - but to the other characters - how each character is enhanced by their association with the Wraith.

For instance, so far with Todd we have:

Sheppard - He takes Todd's presence as a convenient annoyance...he can be of help, but his presence doesn't exactly sit right with Sheppard. Sheppard was NOT deeply affected by his experience in Common Ground - that was just another adventure; the Wraith, however, was - Common Ground was a life-altering experience.

Teyla - She has show to Todd her power over the Wraith. This now makes her a more formidable foe against the Wraith than the likes of Ronon.

Ronon - The constant leers and low growls between Todd and Ronon are PRICELESS!! It just adds to both characters, but especially Ronon because it first reminds us of his hatred for this species, but also makes us aware of the tremendous self-control Ronon is showing by NOT taking Todd's head off at any given moment.

Rodney - What can I say - Todd, somehow, brings out the best in Rodney. For the first time, we see a guy who isn't constantly 'afraid' - Rodney is, in fact, overly trusting of the Wraith - he is most likely the one to let his guard down. It's as if Rodney has found a kindred spirit in the Wraith - not only in intelligence, but in the fact that here is a creature that always hungers, much like he himself does. LOL...I would LOVE to see a scene where Rodney introduces Todd to some of his favorite foods. Could be interesting...and fun. Rodney: "Here - try some coffee - it boosts your energy. It's like a ZPM in a cup, will keep you going all day!"

I would be VERY disappointed if they killed him off. He's one of the rare re-occurring characters who actually has DEPTH...and LOTS of potential. The pirate chick (or whatever she is) is okay - but that's all just sexual tension between her and Shep - funny, but after a while it can be a real yawner. But Todd - you just don't know which one is going to show up - hungry Wraithy Todd, or cooperative, friendly Todd. Would be a WASTE of a good character to just throw him away so soon.

As for joining SGA, no I wouldn’t want him joining either.

The ONLY way he could join the team, and retain the edge, is if he had the freedom to come and go at will. To allow him the freedom to go off and feed as his nature dictates, then to return...well...imagine how Lanteans would feel about THAT! There would be a LOT of controversy. There would also be GREAT prejudice against him. The sidelong glares when he comes back to Atlantis...the whispers...the wide berths given him along the passageways. Add to that the armed guard that is constantly escorting him - and perhaps a locked hand-guard to help him resist the urge to give into his hunger. And through it all - through the hateful glares and the whispers and the complaints, Todd would continue to walk tall, unashamed of what he is.

Yeah- there would be a certain beauty to something like that - IF they chose to make him an part time member of the team.
