Unfortunately what I said is true. TPTB did not develop Kate at all. How do you think I feel when I see that SAM character on Atlantis acting like a noob . Yes, that is the perfect word . I am happy she leaves, like this her Sg1 image remains intact. In S4 she was more in the credits than on screen

What was striking to me was her interactions with Teal'c when he came to Atlantis. Immediate presence felt from the both of them, and there was a connection/confidence. I just don't know why they didn't continue to write her that way on Atlantis. Even the times she was on screen. If they'd just carried Sam Carter, and not try to mold her into someone else, I seriously think she'd have fit in better.

Re the earlier Teyla discussion, it comes back to the same stuff argued about for both Weir and Carter. When it is convenient for them (Vengence I think) they suddenly drop in that Teyla goes off world and visits that (and presumably other ones) settlement. Couldn't they make a passsing reference to that in a scene she is absent from? The same for Weir - they could have had her off world with trading partners or whatever, and they wouldn't have even needed to show it.
They only drop something in when it is convenient to the story, not as actual development for the character.
I may be wrong, but it seems to me that when they flesh out what they want to cover in a season, they only do it for plots/action. They don't map out where they want a character to be at the start of a season and then at the end of it. With the exception of Rodney, there may a some subtle changes within an ep but then the reset gets hit by the next one. Teyla has been the one to suffer the most in this respect.

Oh and that Farscape? picture - very disturbing. Although I guess I'm not in the key demo for that

And what I bolded is a major problem with the show. If they mapped out what they want to do with the characters, I think some issues would be resolved. Instead, weighty emotional moments have little lasting impact onscreen. If you're going to kill a major character(s) for instance, let's see the survivors deal with that. Why waste an opportunity like that to add some emotional substance?

Anywho, back to being ANTI .


Every time, I see Carson's comeback line I crack up. The story goes something like this:

Carson: "What took you so long?"
Sheppard: "You know Carson we were busy. We thought you were dead and we did not really care about Teyla's people. We had to babysit some spoiled brat who has no connection to Atlantis, then I had to be tied in a chair because I wanted some, then I had to win some euros at a fight, you know the usual. We kind of forgot about the we don't leave people behind thing. We have better things to do than look for the Athosians. For example, we were busy telling who would you date jokes in a ditch, and Rodney was busy throwing like a girl .


I find it disturbing that after so much time they decided to bring back Teyla's people. Greatest continuity ever.
