That's your opinion, but she's there to provide the looks. Look at how she's dressed.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

What I said before . Of course it is my opinion . Dressing Teyla with those clothes does not enhance her beauty. On the contrary .

if you want to make that clear, you say 'in my opinion...' or 'to me' instead of expressing your opinions as a fact.

Sort of like Teal'c . They also needed her crop knowledge because they were cut off from earth. We got some supplies from Earth the writers gave her some wraith DNA to compensate for the lack of ideas. It was all interesting and then they dropped it to pick it up more than a year later. That is frelled up . Now in S4 she gets this supposed arc and she becomes more dull than before.
All really good points, if they'd used them to their full potential. As for "gel" -- beats Integra.

Weir, who is smart and radiates amazing leadership charisma is pushed back because she can't be the show heroine because she doesn't have prefect face, boobs and body. Teyla is there to supply the perfect looks, but she isn't used for anything else. We are supposed to know she is wise beyond her years and experience because she talks in grammatically prefect sentences (and that should also give us a hint she's alien), but she isn't used for anything beside looking pretty. Weir isn't used for anything than watching the team leave and occasionally struggling with the lead boy of the show. Both women had amazing potential, and should have been treated equally like male characters, but at the end even the male characters aren't treated like they should have been. Sheppard is there to kirk around, Rodney to snark, Ronon to look angry, Zelenka to mutter in Czech.... very fine work indeed.

And speaking of "indeed" Teal'c had so much more depth than any SGA character. Sadly.
I love Teal'c. W/ very few lines Chris Judge conveyed so much. One quirk of his eye brow, and I could totally get what he was getting at. As for the looks - it's all in the eye of the beholder. Whatever appeals to whomever. Initially I didn't find Weir attractive, and as the S1 progressed, I was drawn to her and she appealed to me on a deeper level than just looks. Teyla was the toned athletic female. Again, my first though of her was oh, ok, she's pretty.

Teyla has the looks TPTB love most a left look and a right look which they make sure are prominently displayed in tops a couple of sizes to small so as to attract those key demographics.

Like Weir, Teyla had potential to be so much more but the writers have been unwilling to give the character real direction and growth other than cop out mary-suisms like the wraith DNA (being able to control wraith queens pfft)

This is bad - it's Monday and I've read lots of positive reviews for Midway...and I still haven't had the desire to watch it. It's been three years since the honeymoon phase (s1) and now I'm finally in the divorce hearings.
