The Anti Season 4 Thread (Spoilers). For complaints and misgivings ONLY.
Over the weekend I saw Tao of Rodney in syndication. Boy did that highlight for me the differences between season 4 and seasons past. Great moments between so many characters and it worked because the people really had come to feel like they were each other's family. That is what is missing for me at the heart of season 4 - family.
The two new characters aren't part of the family yet. Maybe in a few years... But wait! There's two more coming next year. It just feels like the show keeps starting over, trying to get it right, when for me it already had it right. They had six main characters surrounded by a great secondary cast and those were the people I was interested in. It was their lives and adventures together that I wanted to follow.
Now if you take the one in my siggy you could literally make it a mini-mono.
GAH. That sounds like a disease.
That's because it is a disease... Americans call glandular fever infectious mononucleosis - or short mono. I prefer to call it kissing disease. *g*
Although when I had it, I wasn't kissed for months! *pouts*
Sparky Shipper. Genetically predisposed to being stubborn... really pesky.
Am I right, are people really not allowed to count words on the show?! what else will GW tell not to do in one's free time? LOL This forum is getting as ridiculous as the show. wth?! Why?
Also, Dr. Keller is not coming across as a strong character, given her penchant for either making out with or falling for men with whom she becomes trapped in tight quarters. This could be a real problem considering the situations the Atlantis crew routinely finds themselves in. Staite is a good actress, but her character seems to be a step backward from the strong females Stargate usually employs. Seriously, this kissing/falling for co-workers thing is becoming pathological.

Not many people did, though JM of course is saying people liked it because the sucker uppers on his blog are telling him how great it is.
Seriously, Keller's not a likeable character. If I was Jewel, I'd be wanting to get the hell out of that show. She's playing a character who could go down as the most hated in this franchise.

Ditto. You described my problem with season 4 very well. And actually, I think we'll get three new characters, won't we? Two new female recurring and the fearful leader.

Next time, expedition members will pay Keller for a lap dance.
Um, I'm not sure they would even have to pay her.
Did you guys see the tidbit they left out of Trio on JM's blog?
Spoiler:
Carter: So…you seeing anyone?
Keller: What?
Carter: Around the base, you seeing anyone?
Keller: I dunno…I had a moment with - with this…guy. He’s not exactly easy to read so…I guess the short answer is “no”. You?
Carter: Well, I’m the boss, so I can’t really…
Keller: Right Anyone back home?
Carter: Uhm…
Keller: Un-huh, I thought so. Give it up.
Carter: Well, it’s complicated.
Keller: Show me a relationship that isn’t.
Carter: He’s in Washington…I’m here.
Keller: Ouch. Long distance relationship.
Carter: He’s going to retire soon, so maybe -
Keller: Really! Retire? So…an older man, huh?
Carter: Not that much older.
Keller: Washington, older man…is he like a Senator or something? Someone famous? Would I know him?
Carter: Probably not.
If they had left that in, it would've pleased a lot of Carter/Jack fans, I imagine, and would've went a long way in helping the Keller character to appear like she's not throwing herself at guys when we thought she was with another. Seriously, cut like...practically any boring thing from that ep and leave that snippet in. Cut the Zelenka bashing. That just wasn't right.
An interesting part of "Trio" was the reference to "Quarantine," my least favorite episode. With this being a close second, it's funny how close the two are related, the only differences I saw were, somehow Dr. Keller is brave and no longer a coward that she was at the beginning of the season, and she is quite the little player. First Ronon in "Quarantine" and now McKay in "Trio," Keller sure does get around.
Also interesting:
They need Weir back, but she isn't coming, and they need Sam gone, which is happening. Season five is going to be rough; they need to do some serious locking up.
