Ok. Carter is "in several episode". AT just got Sanctuary picked up. Alison Porter new female character - possibly recurring. JM basically confirmed they fired Weir because they didn't like the character, only Brad Wright did. He said they did AT a favor by firing her to her face rather than informing her agent.
Then in the blog earlier this week he said Weir would be back, on screen in S5. But she will not be in the mid season 2 parter.

Is it OK to post negative things about Season 5 here? If they can somehow be related to Season 4 maybe?
From recent experience I am getting the feeling that not too many negative things will be welcomed in the Season 5 zone, and I really don't want to piss off or offend too many people.

Me! Me! This is the first time I've been able to get on the site from home. I was pretty much stuck with lurking the last few days at work. And just when some juicy stuff was being debated. Speaking of...

One of the biggest anti Weir people has just admitted in at least two threads that he has a sock, that he posts under both, and has been using the sock while his other account is on moderation.

Nothing like building up your numbers if you can't find people who agree with you. I've reported him. If you figure out who it is, and feel inclined, go report him too. He was on moderation for a reason. He shouldn't be able to get around things by using a sock.

I saw this too and I don't see how they can't do something about it. He flat out admitted to doing it! And the thread it was in is missing (I think) at the moment, but that's no suprise given what the topic was in there.

So here are my anti thoughts for Season 4 and 5.
First off, I do not have much negative to say about the male characters on SGA, I generally like them and what TPTB have done with them, but....

The female characters on the other hand, what the heck?
It seems that this season they have systematically devalued, displaced, even killed almost every good ,strong woman on this show and replaced them with those I don't see as half as interesting or worthwhile. (I do like Carter, but her role is so much less than it could have been, given her history).

Old:
Elizabeth - all but written out
Teyla - (I know she was pregnant) - role diminished further
Kate -killed outright
Cadman - never saw her at all

New:
Carter - should be a strong female role but is hardly there
Keller - weak; sweet, but weak
Larrin - kinda sleazy and what leadership has she actually shown

So when they talk about bringing in yet another female character, Alison Porter?, I am not inclined to be optimistic about Season 5 either.
I am very disheartened.

Why are they replacing everyone? Why even bother with Stargate Universe, they are transforming SGA into a whole new show anyway.

From what I've recently heard about SGU, it has the potential to be full of awesomeness. If we can keep certain PTB away, that is.

Sock puppet. Someone who has other accounts, and basically runs more than one at once. Sometimes they even agree with each other because nobody else shares their warped view of things...

There are some we suspect of being socks who constantly have conversations with each other, which would effectively be one person talking to themself.

Some do it to make it look like more people share their view. In this case, he did it he claims because he was on moderation, and he was basically thumbing his nose at the mods by creating a second account so he could say what he wanted while on moderation. Funny thing is both of those accounts are now on moderation, but rumour has it he has a third one.

Yes those are exactly my thoughts! Nice to know another feels the same!

As I already posted, it's becoming like a boys' club, as if only boys can be at the front line fighting the wraith or whatever. Good points on Kate and Cadman and I agree about Larrin, she is never shown actually leading her people like Teyla has in the past (but with her people gone all season she hasn't been able to fulfil that role anymore). All Larrin does is flirt and tease John. The whole casting has become very sexist and geared towards male viewers.

Heh, I'm glad I hardly read the other threads these days. I wonder why some folks are so desperate, though. If SGA gets canned, there will be other sci-fi shows. Do not worry!

Edit: I just read somewhere (ah, the irony!) that Carter is history as base commander. Ha, ha!

Who is this Captain Porter? Some sort of Carter lite? If they wanted to add someone new to the team, why not an established character like Cadman?

As it is, there's just too much randomness in this show for my taste... Even if Dr. Weir were still around, I honestly don't know if I would watch it.

And a new commander is in, and it's not Weir. There goes my last shred of hope. I fear Weir will be an enemy now, which would destroy her character in my mind. Insane. So...we'll have two new characters next year, a new commander and probably a new team member or recurring character. Changing up the dynamics even more. Great how everything is gelling, huh?

Honestly dude, I think with this new announcement, they should just bring Weir back, imo. Have Carter do her guest roles, they rescue Weir, save her and then the IOA decides she is fit to be leader again.
