I think it's in the line delivery & voice quality. Sam to me doesn't carry the same authority in her voice. Weir did. Sam has all sorts of technical genius. For me, none of the qualities to lead a base. She's not a negotiator, peace keeper, occasional psychologist. What Sam does best is find solutions to technical problems. That's her area. She's the one who will give you 10 solutions to your one problem. Weir had/has the human touch that's needed to run the manpower in Atlantis.

Sam could have been written to lead Atlantis. No colonel in the USAF wouldn't be able to have some leadership skills. Lazy writing and an actual effort to make Sam a "out of her element." is to blame.

I still write fanfic... have multiple bunnies appearing and disappearing on a regular basis. Season 4, however, doesn't really exist in the format we see on TV. TV = AU.

I have written fan fic galore along with some original stuff and I never could get into Atlantis from the get go enough to write for it. There is not real chemistry between the SGA first team...sheppards. Everything boils down to the sheppard/mckay hour even in fics.

I have a great arc fo wier but just can't get myself into writing it. The arc is Wier taking ob Oberone and actually overthrowing him. She then finds herself isolated and alone due to the replicators inability to have emotions. She secretly replicates Atlantis but from season 1.

Instead of JS playing Dr. Keller her character would infact be Dr. Wier's young sister who tragically died at age 16 in a car wreck. Wier guess what she have grown into. She even replicates key members from SG-1, like Daniel. She tried to make herself a new home and hide the fact that everyone around her is a replicators from the recreation.

Eventually Caldwell runs across Wier's sister city and exposes them as replicators...the replicators didn't know they were replicators.

Ellis, being the jerk that he is actually starts a war with Wier's replicators and the new replicators now must decided if they go to war or run.
