Yes! More women in charge, please. The Stargates have unfortunately always been male-dominated shows and I'd love to see the franchise break its stereotypes.

Damn scenes with Charin and Teyla still make me cry!

They want to do plot driven show, forgetting that they're dealing with grown up human beings - on screens as well as in front of the screens. Some of us (the fans) are also intelligent people. We want intelligent plots - intellectually and emotionally captivating. It seems that these hot shot writers simply can't deliver anything better than wannabe sitcom laced with big frakking explosions.
And to add to 'intellegent audience' - respect your female viewers, please! You have more than you think, TPTB, and it's kind of infuriating/insulting/annoying when you repeatedly sideline/dispose of strong, unique women like Teyla and Weir (who we can relate to) and give the axe to sweet male characters like Carson who we wished there was more of in men in real life. Instead, you give us boring Carter Sue and Larrin the intergalactic dominatrix. And though I'm all for the John and Rodney love, please give the other characters more screentime! Thank you.

That remains a stupid name for a horrendous pairing. <- my opinion!!

Yes, and he fits the profile. Be very afraid.

I'm up to GuP, which means 34 episodes so far - counting 30+ people who died so far, a handful of them are Known only to TPTB (nameless characters).
...and counting.

This was way longer than intended, and probably other people has responded better to these points, so I'm just going to spoiler it

Teyla has always been one of my favourites and especially with Weir gone, as the only remaining decent female character she should be getting more screentime. I liked her in Missing, especially how she kind of abandoned Keller in parts and kept her mouth shut. Which by the way made the otherwise horrible Keller-filled episode worthwhile. I loved her attitude in the field - so obvious she hated Keller slowing her down. I think it would have been better with Rodney trailing along, though he's not a medic and would have no practical use but at least he's entertaining when he whines. Carson too, because I want more Carson/Teyla shippiness. Thinking of that, another good trio would be Rodney/Teyla/Carson. Oi, I might have to write something with that...
With the supposed 'Teyla-arc' you'd think she'd have more to say, no? Would've been more interesting if she'd shot Keller. Oh, no, wait.....
I love Hermiod. I was hoping he didn't participate in the suicide ritual but alas, he did.
We should all have a coup d'etat and Ford the writers. I liked old Atlantis when I fell in love with the super sexy six. Yes, it had plots, but I cared about the characters and that what really drew me in. They also need to understand that 'plot driven' and 'emotionally captivating' don't mean 'character death or desposal'. There was amazing emotional writing in seasons 1-3. Oh, yes, and the frakking explosions - I understand that they look good in trailers, but no, for the real thing they don't captivate the audience.

To your point of character death and downgrading and ignoring audiences, i agree, but can I suggest that they don't have a specific audience? Is it the net users, the DVD buyers, the pre-pubescent boys, the 25-45yr old females, the 45+yr old guys. I know they have the breakdowns, but it must get a little iffy as to which one gives them the most income, and therefore which one to pander to. Plus a lot of sci-fi watchers will keep watching no matter what happens (not me!). I get attached to characters. Initially I hated Carson, but in s3 I really liked him. He was particularly strong in Misbegotten and Phantoms, as well as Tao and Sunday. As a younger actress Jewel could not have given that performance, provided that depth, regardless of how I feel about her character. Also, I think a lot of my dismay over the changes has actually come from their poor handling of these events publicly. Torri's departure was a mis-managed PR nightmare, as well as the introduction of her replacement. The fact that cast members have said publicly that they are unhappy about all of the changes says to me that they either think they can sway TPTB into bringing her back, or that they don't really about the consequences to themselves from such actions.
I was hoping to see that too. I really liked the episodes where the SGA crew helps out on other planets. (Except we don't have Carson, which means they would have to bring Keller along so it might be a good thing.) But instead, TPTB goes 'Ah, space battle you'll love, everybody loves space battles!'
Tao is one of my favourites due to the excellent emotion and included all of the characters and actors. Plus, it had humour without getting too ridiculous. And it made me a bit teary which is a plus.

I think Reiko said something about respecting the female viewers. PTB guys, there are lots of women watching this show and while we do like a sight of some cute male we do want good female characters. Presenting us with a strong female character doesn't mean her ability to a) kick ass, b) wear leather and look "tough" which is, in male dominated word often interpreted as "hot".
We want characters we can relate to. Right now I don't see that on SGA. I'm an intelligent and educated young female and whiny babies like Keller won't do. I'm even less impressed with the job that's been done with male characters.I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.
