I fell asleep while watching Smallville once, it was a Lana episode. It's easier to watch SGA when you can skip things you don't care about, which for me would be everything this season. lol.

Yes! More women in charge, please. The Stargates have unfortunately always been male-dominated shows and I'd love to see the franchise break its stereotypes.
Teyla has always been one of my favourites and especially with Weir gone, as the only remaining decent female character she should be getting more screentime. I liked her in Missing, especially how she kind of abandoned Keller in parts and kept her mouth shut. Which by the way made the otherwise horrible Keller-filled episode worthwhile. I loved her attitude in the field - so obvious she hated Keller slowing her down. I think it would have been better with Rodney trailing along, though he's not a medic and would have no practical use but at least he's entertaining when he whines. Carson too, because I want more Carson/Teyla shippiness. Thinking of that, another good trio would be Rodney/Teyla/Carson. Oi, I might have to write something with that...

Damn scenes with Charin and Teyla still make me cry!
I love Hermiod. I was hoping he didn't participate in the suicide ritual but alas, he did. I also love report-happy ponytail - as the annoying SOB he is, not like he's cute or anything =P I really liked Critical Mass, yes, good times. Had lots of Teyla/Carson in it too.

It seems that these hot shot writers simply can't deliver anything better than wannabe sitcom laced with big frakking explosions.
We should all have a coup d'etat and Ford the writers. I liked old Atlantis when I fell in love with the super sexy six. Yes, it had plots, but I cared about the characters and that what really drew me in. They also need to understand that 'plot driven' and 'emotionally captivating' don't mean 'character death or desposal'. There was amazing emotional writing in seasons 1-3. Oh, yes, and the frakking explosions - I understand that they look good in trailers, but no, for the real thing they don't captivate the audience.

And to add to 'intellegent audience' - respect your female viewers, please! You have more than you think, TPTB, and it's kind of infuriating/insulting/annoying when you repeatedly sideline/dispose of strong, unique women like Teyla and Weir (who we can relate to) and give the axe to sweet male characters like Carson who we wished there was more of in men in real life. Instead, you give us boring Carter Sue and Larrin the intergalactic dominatrix. And though I'm all for the John and Rodney love, please give the other characters more screentime! Thank you.

I was hoping to see that too. I really liked the episodes where the SGA crew helps out on other planets. (Except we don't have Carson, which means they would have to bring Keller along so it might be a good thing.) But instead, TPTB goes 'Ah, space battle you'll love, everybody loves space battles!'

Neither Torri or Paul wanted out from my understanding. (I would cite specific sources, but I'm too lazy.) The rest of the cast appear to be unhappy or at least distressed by thier removals as well. And the horrendous name should stay, as horrendous pairing need names like that.

Yes, and he fits the profile. Be very afraid.
Nooo, they can't kill Zelenka! But it also appears Keller checks through the profile requirements. Which might be good, until I add the fifth prerequisite:

      * Caters to the pubescent male demographic.

The pink outfit was ICK and detracted from Rodney's sexiness. It was too bright and hurt my eyes. Actually that episode was the only one I could tolerate her in, she was actually good in it! Except wait, it wasn't really her, it was a figment of McKay's subconcious. My bad.

Tao is one of my favourites due to the excellent emotion and included all of the characters and actors. Plus, it had humour without getting too ridiculous. And it made me a bit teary which is a plus.

Hmph. Maybe I'll think differently, I have a unique perspective on things and am easy to entertain. But I'll always find something to complain about.

I still have to wait an hour and a half before it airs in my butt end of the universe.

                No Carter or Keller though.

It wasn't a bad ep, just not particularly exciting or plot twisty either. You wouldn't miss much by skipping it (like many of the eps in s4...).

With the supposed 'Teyla-arc' you'd think she'd have more to say, no? Would've been more interesting if she'd shot Keller. Oh, no, wait.....

I love Hermiod. I was hoping he didn't participate in the suicide ritual but alas, he did.
I always thought his best contribution was actually in Seige III. In the commentary, Marty G goes "look at Hermiod eyes. Are you seeing this". Priceless.

I'm not trying to defend TPTB, but I always forgive a small amount of character inconsistency. When you listen to the writers and directors, they often aren't fully aware of what has happened in other eps within a season. And when they hire new writers, they go and study up the old DVD's, and write based on that, which is actually a season out of date. Plus they all have a different idea of who the character is (plus certain actions need to be done to advance the plot) and write accordingly. Take Carl Binder. He generally writes great Torri eps, but sometimes not so well for Shep. Marty G generally does great character eps, but lately I have found his two parters to be a bit lacklustre (IMO). He has written some of my favourites though.

To your point of character death and downgrading and ignoring audiences, i agree, but can I suggest that they don't have a specific audience? Is it the net users, the DVD buyers, the pre-pubescent boys, the 25-45yr old females, the 45+yr old guys. I know they have the breakdowns, but it must get a little iffy as to which one gives them the most income, and therefore which one to pander to. Plus a lot of sci-fi watchers will keep watching no matter what happens (not me!). I get attached to characters. Initially I hated Carson, but in s3 I really liked him. He was particularly strong in Misbegotten and Phantoms, as well as Tao and Sunday. As a younger actress Jewel could not have given that performance, provided that depth, regardless of how I feel about her character. Also, I think a lot of my dismay over the changes has actually come from their poor handling of these events publicly. Torri's departure was a mis-managed PR nightmare, as well as the introduction of her replacement. The fact that cast members have said publicly that they are unhappy about all of the changes says to me that they either think they can sway TPTB into bringing her back, or that they don't really about the consequences to themselves from such actions.

I was hoping to see that too. I really liked the episodes where the SGA crew helps out on other planets. I like em, just not as much as TPTB do apparently. They need to write the show so that I actually care if they lose.

Me too. Which is surprising, coz some people say I'm made of stone.

That must be like all the scientific research our super qualified leader is doing while she is on Atlantis. That WAS why the IOA appointed her, wasn't it? Otherwise they really should have given her the Apollo. Or maybe that is part of the whole mismanagement thing.

My thoughts exactly, Suz. Why is one of these things okay and other a security risk? I say it's just a convenient excuse to PTB.

What a ringing endorsement. It ranks right up there with "you aren't completely inept", "this doosn't suck so much", "could'a been worse" and "does ya momma play?". None of which have been said to me btw. And if they had been, I would have smashed the person who said it. Fit that into ya demographic, PTB (I have just been over at the peace table thread. There is still a slight taste of vomit left in my throat, although they do have a nice sintiment). I think I have just gone past the anti thread in what must be my <5 post in it, to the black hole of dispair thread. Oh dear. Pithy comment to makelight of the situation. Hey I'm Rodney McKay without the fanbase. And the salary. Maybe I should start to spoiler my entire posts.

                                Oy that's good for TV!

I think Reiko said something about respecting the female viewers. PTB guys, there are lots of women watching this show and while we do like a sight of some cute male we do want good female characters. Presenting us with a strong female character doesn't mean her ability to a) kick ass, b) wear leather and look "tough" which is, in male dominated word often interpreted as "hot".

We want characters we can relate to. Right now I don't see that on SGA. I'm an intelligent and educated young female and whiny babies like Keller won't do. I'm even less impressed with the job that's been done with male characters.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.
