I'm not sure these people know how to accept suggestions.
They were able to handle suggestions in the earlier seasons (I think S1 ~ S7/8) of SG-1, but I guess time has made them think they know best.

They have a good reason - they have the longest running sci-fi show ever. It made them so proud they've forgotten about the proverb taught to everyone, who was about to become a monarch:

"When everyone around you is in agreement with your decisions, be afraid."

It's something called "group thinking" - when you're surrounded with people who think the same way you do, your views and opinions only get reinforced. If everyone is in agreement, the mutual feeling of being correct is only strengthened, and it's usually useful, while having group discussions and making group decisions to have one member of the group to play "the devil's advocate" and question everything - that's a good way to discover flaws in the plan.

          Right

What bugs the most about the ships on SG (ST ships suffer from a lot of problems also when looked at from a design and construction perspective) are where the bridges are located; they are located on the top of the vessel instead of a reinforced part in the center of the ship where they by far vunerable for attack. The bridge is one of the most important areas of a space ship and you don't place it on top of you vessel, it's too risky in case of an attack and besides that it's useless because what does the bridge crew have to look out for in space where it's dark (The reason the bridge is on top in sea ships is due to visibility so the crew can look outside and remain watchful)? That's one problem.
I've often wondered that, the front of the ship is usually the first to go in a battle, BTW is Caldwell in Series 4?
One of the other problems is the shape and armour of the vessels, they're so inefficient and poorly designed for a warship. The Battlestars from BSG are much better designed, as are most ships in B5 and SW, when you look at their intended usage. The SG ships have little to no armour and thus always rely on their shields, the moment it collapses the ship is done for. This is a bad design call, as a warship, especially in space, should be heavily armoured so that while the shields are down it can still perform in battle without sustaining critcal damage. The long, ugly, thing that runs up to the front is a defence liability and it's pointless, there is no reason why it should be there. If you widen it, it can house more people, more weapons, more cargo and more fighters. Plus it will be less of an obvious target and will be more difficult to destroy.
I'll have to ask my OH about this, he's the BSG fan

And lastly I'll complain about the lack of thrusters in the front of the vessel. How on Earth do those ships slow down?
it's not like there's an escape lane in space if your brakes fail

TPTB should consult engineers, preferably those who worked for the military and have experience with spacecraft, and ask them to design the ships...
Don't be silly, they'll have to admit they're not perfect then

I watched Adrift, that was bad enough

That proverb describes group thinking perfectly. And the fact that they have longest running sci fi show doesn't make them right on absolutely everything, because everyone makes mistakes.

Both Travelers and Adrift were horribly predictable, and both episodes ruined my favorite characters. What happened in Adrift was just a cheap way to write Weir out, while Travelers dumbed down Sheppard and gosh I'm so tired of episodes like that. What happened to the guy from The Storm & The Eye?

He reached pubity. That's why he started thinking with the parts of his body that are usually used for procreation (Sanctuary aired after The Eye)

I guess the writers are the ones who reached that certain age, not Sheppard. I can hardly remember Sanctuary, it was that good.

Just a little something to upset TPTB

                    Spoiler:
The christmas episode of Doctor Who at one point had 13 million viewers, over 50% of the viewership between 7-8pm

Watch it and see how you can trounce your rivals and keep your viewers boys

Unfortunately, TPTBs reaching pubity = characters reaching pubity

Wow, that is definitely impressive. We don't have Dr. Who here... I should get my hands on that show somehow!

I can't recall SG1 having a season so bad. Why can't they put some effort in it? I mean GW was full with threads about that Larin girl and how amazing she is on the set and how much fun they are having, bla, bla, bla, bla. Before I saw the episode I said, okay, this sounds fun, they are introducing a new character, new race, lots of things can happen. 5 minutes after they introduced her, I was like, jinkies, where is my shovel? I need to smack someone!

And yet TPTB party when they get viewers over a million, if that happened to any show in the UK it would be cancelled ASAP. The episode was a rehash of The Posidon Adventure but it was supposed to be a mickey-take of Hollywood disaster movies and RTD made no apologies and admitted it straight out, another hint here PTB's, admit you're copying another show/movie and your viewers will respect you a bit more
