The Anti Season 4 Thread (Spoilers). For complaints and misgivings ONLY.
I wonder how Lucius would be drawn in an anime series. Anyway, can you imagine a series with Lucius and Minmei?
Actually I always thought Lucius was a copy cat from this guy from an episode/chapter of Inuyasha, the guy was an ugly pervert who used his creations to 'seduce' (meaning rape) his victims (who were young girls), he tried to rape Kagome.
I'm sure had Minmei been a character from SGA she'd have tried to sleep with Sheppard while flirting with Ronon and Lorne, she loved pilots, but also to keep her options open.
That is actually a good thing. Another galaxy, no possibility to go home, you need a shrink to help you get through the harsh moments. Ohh, she did not appear as often as she should have, that is another story .
Ok USA reports, it's 1.6 mil ... so is that 1.6 million total viewers or 1.6 ratings. I am confuzzed and in need of deciphering all things ratings.
It will likely be a 1.2! After the DVR performance should bring that total between 1.9 to 2.0 million viewers giving it a 1.4! That will then be 3 eps this season to date that got a 1.4!
We just learned here: http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...analysis_N.htm that TMC did 1.6 million. Can someone explain? That's the # of viewers, not the rating, right? So what is the rating? That doesn't sound like a lot.
It means the rating fall continues and I don't think it will just stop
So, the people who left have stayed gone and no amount of advertising during Tin Man which was viewed by 5.3 million people was able to bring them back even with the promise of Weir's return because they just don't care anymore.
It will be interesting to see how they spin this. And spin they will.

And that is a reason for celebration... why exactly?

Atlantis only scores 1.2s with Dr. Weir on board. That's the only way this Weir fan can spin it. Not exciting news for the show, though.

I haven't seen Inuyasha so I can't comment on any resemblence between those two characters.

*nods* And whenever she gets screentime Sheppard, or anyone else, gets into trouble.

I posted this in the Episode Reviews section, but it kind of counts as a "misgiving", so I'll repost here:
A lapsed/casual viewer reporting in...
I haven't seen much of SGA this season. The only other episode I caught was Tabula Rasa, which was okay.
I brought this along on a plane trip as an iTunes purchase expecting a "midseason finale" to be something above average.
It was very uninspired. They took a common scifi cliche--the clone/duplicate/copy--and didn't do anything unique with it. In fact, within minutes of the duplicates meeting, which is always the most interesting part, they destroyed them.
Farscape did way, way better with the two Crichtons plot. Now, THAT, was a creative use of a SciFi cliche.
The much hallowed "return of Elizabeth Weir" meant little to me as a casual viewer since I never felt much for the character to begin with. And, if I had, they kinda killed her duplicate unnecessarily. They really didn't need every single duplicate on that shuttle.
As for the "big ending", there was little drama. Oooh, lot's of ships. Scary, not. Haven't we been here before?
My assessment is that this kind of lazy, uninspired writing isn't going to bring back us casual viewers.
We've all been waiting for it since October, and this week we got the return of Dr. Weir. Kind of. If that wasn't enough to capture your interest, the SciFi channel was also running promos all week letting you know that this was the last episode of 2007.
Let's also count that SGA was promoted in Tin Man, SciFi's highest rated mini-series ever.
I just watched the promo at SciFi.com and it seemed to feature Weir and the fact that it was the last episode of 2007 very well.
If casual viewers actually cared, it should've done a higher rating than 1.6 million viewers.
Maybe that's the key phrase these days..."if casual viewers actually cared".
