This may have already been mentioned, but this is what Syfy Portal says about TMC:

Well, is it just me or does this remind anyone else of "Stargate SG-1" season one’s "Tin Man" (duplicates of the team that don’t realize it) combined with season four’s "Double Jeopardy" (the same duplicates sacrifice themselves to save the originals)? This is a little disturbing since the last episode, "Miller’s Crossing," reminded me a little too much of "Desperate Measures."

It was a good hour overall, but I hope this trend of Atlantis episodes "replicating" SG-1 plots doesn’t continue ... wspecially when you consider that the Replicators are practically "replications" of SG-1’s Replicator threat. I’m still a little puzzled by that one.

At least they could call them something else or try to tie the two together somehow. The two versions seem too much like each other to not have linked origins.

Again, where is Carter? Why bother having her join the series if she is always gone. I think the big weakness this season has been the poor integration of this beloved character. When she is there, she doesn’t seem like the soldier/uber-scientist that we all know and love. Instead, she feels like a watered down version of Weir.

If you ask me, these reviews are a breath of fresh air. I feel less crazy when I read them. Hey, there's an impartial person who's seeing the same things I'm seeing. Heh.

After reading the discussion on JM's blog about TMC, I reached the conclusion that he is not the only one to blame for this fiasco. I think Marty G had a lot of input also. From the blog

But when I received notes on the first draft, Marty G. pointed out that having Weir appear right off the bat pretty much blows the mystery from the get-go (Of course this was assuming the SciFi promo and Gateworld spoilers wouldn’t do it for us even before the episode aired. Silly, silly us.) Better to save Weir’s reveal for later in the episode and build the weirdness.

It seems we have MG to thank for the long wait until Weir showed up. I for one think the original concept of having her there all along sounds better. But that explains why the scene in the cell was so odd with everyone acting used to having her around.

Me too, and after reading a few of the posts on the ep thread by viewers who saw things that didn't appear on my TV, I'm even more glad. Not that their perception isn't just as worthy as mine of course. I just don't like the feeling of being insane.

All the criticism about Carter not being there is great...except that's just going to make TPTB shove her down our throats more. One of the few good things about some of the eps this season is her not being there.

Well, the good news (or bad, depending on how you look at it ) is that all the eps for s4 have been filmed, so nothing can be changed now.

s5 is another matter, but now that I've watched the first half of s4 I admit I'm drifting further and further away from the show. Some of the eps have shown promise, while others have been the same old mediocrity. To top it off, I've been very disappointed in TPTB and their "creative" decisions regarding casting. This first half has shown that adding Carter to Atlantis really was just a ratings ploy and had little to do with the show itself. Why else bring over Carter and have her do exactly the same thing Weir does? What a disservice to both Torri and Amanda.

Whatever TPTB do in s5 may be a nonissue for me if I don't bother watching it.
