In my country, when I have an ad in the middle of a show (and yes, we only have one 2-5 minute ad in the middle of 45 minute show), I switch to another channel. And when I DVR (though I don't do that much because nothing interesting is on TV here for me) I fastforward through the ads anyway.

I always start my shows a few minutes late if I am watching live. That way I can still FF through the ads.

Unless they are the ipod Ad's .. .then I stop and watch.

In t.v linguo it's called a spin, of course the fact that people who need to spin things so much are the ones in desperate need of trying to make it look like their failure of a show isn't really failing all that hard (just a little) should give us insight into just how reliable their version of the situation is.

We Brits are immune to spin, thanks to the government, so we don't pay any attention to it
