I was hoping that s4 would be different or darker or something, but it's been largely the same old, same old.
Atlantis is too focused on Sheppard's team. The episodes should also portray Atlantis, the other teams, a Daedalus mission here and there etc. It would be cool if the writers managed to toss all this stuff in a single episode like CSI does. Two or three plots per episode, you know.

The S4 replicator storyline (which we haven't seen since Lifeline BTW) offers so much potential for Liz. I wouldn't want her to be in Asuran hands forever, but a short stint as a POW and then a harrowing rescue with a joyous return to Atlantis combined with a somewhat troubled, but ultimately successful rehabilitation would be wonderful.

Wha? Am I asking too much?
Yeah where have we seen that? SG-1 "New Order" anyone? Stupid re-hash, stupid replicators. I knew it was a bad idea when they surfaced again in Atlantis. Don't these PTBs have any new cool ideas for villains? Must they re-hash SG-1 ones

As I said in the Missing-thread...

No wonder Missing's pulling better ratings than the premiere (that ain't hard to do anyway, they weren't spectacular to begin with). It's the ladies front and central. And if I'm not mistaken the key demographics are male.

That only happened because SG-1s lead in was their 200th.
SGA bounces back ratings-wise with a Teyla ep. What does that tell ya?
It tells me that Jewel has a lot of fans. Anyway I hardly think a 1.1 or 1.2 is a bounce back, that is just crazy talk!

...I say let them crash .

Missing also had the most switched off tvs in the history of a SciFi show .

              RANT!!
One mediocrely (yes that’s a word…kinda) okay episode out of how many now!?… gads season 4 sucks so bad, and well I blame carter and keller and the loss of liz and Carson 100% well okay maybe only 95% I blame JM for the other 5%.
What depth we were achieving has been sucked dry, so much so that it looks like a corpse left over from the wraith, I have been reading some fan fic… and its just making me realize how much was actually lost this season.
              Spoiler:

They killed my OTP (and not just mine). They have achieved nothing in getting more viewers (less maybe).
Darker is only noticeable in the lighting (less of that). Story-wise TPTB's obviously have a different definition of dark than I do.

*goes back to writing three fanfics at the same time*
Oh, anyone know a good title for a short Tabula Rasa AU episode tag featuring Kate and Teyla,...

Spoiler-space for I think I'm spoiling a bit of episode.

You don't have to read fanfiction for that, you just ahve to compare season 4 to season 1 for example. The episodes in season 4 have lost something, which made Atlantis .. well, Atlantis. It's nit just Carson and Elizabeth, it's like the whole mood has changed, and not for the better;-(
I hate when fanfiction is better than the original because that makes the authors of the real thing look really stupid...

To me it started sometime by the middle of season three, I don't know what it was, but it was lost, I can't believe how things have changed in the way I used to view this show.

At the beginning of season three I was in love, I was like "nothing and no one could get me to stop watching, this show is fantastic, great storylines, I love you my SGA *cuddles*", and then it started to suck somewhere after the Return 2 (or during, I hated that episode) and then I was "oh well, not the best writing, kinda sucks now, but as long as my favorite character is still there (read Elizabeth), and they calm down with the crossovers crap I'll watch", and you know what happened next.

Agreed. The first season explored the team, the city, and the people who oversaw the city or did research in it (Brotherhood was a great example of having both an offworld, team plot and an Atlantis plot). Now we're back to the standard SG1 formula - team team team. Team goes offworld, team finds problem, team fixes problem (or runs like hell, leaving problem for another ep), fin. The people on Atlantis either were not featured or spent the time worrying about the team. Even eps that take place in the city like TR treat the city more as a maze of hallways than anything worthy of exploration or wonder.

Atlantis had something that set it apart from its parent. Most of that is gone now, and that's a shame.

When the authors are writing the show like stupid babies for stupid babies, there is no helping that

*cries* I know. I wasn't a fan of the parent series. Part of what drew me to Stargate Atlantis was the second word in that title.

I liked the ensemble cast. Wish we could have had more of them.
