Hmm, are you talking about killing off characters??? 'Cause no problems? I don't think we have been watching the same show. Weir wasn't working neither was Carson, now you can say there are other ways to deal with characters not working out rather then killing them off but imho there were problems with those two characters, and for this viewer getting rid of Weir is the only good thing they have done in two and half seasons.

However the main problem from my point of view has been the writing. Only Martin Gero seems to write remotely interesting stories. No not everything is original in his scripts but compared to Joe M & Paul M; not to mention Carl Binder (who I have yet to see anything original from) Martin is a guiding light... the show relies too heavily on a set number of writers and I suspect even when they do bring in fresher blood (RCC definitely NOT included in that category) that Joe M & Paul M put a heavy hand on the pen of the 'fresh' writer making even their scripts seem more of the 'same'.

Until the show(runners) gets a backbone and goes into stories and places that are a little uncomfortable, dealing with real ethical and moral issues and resolving them without the big red reset button this show will suffer and die and I will continue to not give (much of ) a dam about it.

I do agree that Weir wasn't working, but that was due to inept writing rather than faults with the character/actress. But I can't for the life of me see what wasn't working about Carson..

I don't believe it until I see the numbers, besides even so, 0.9 is still very bad and it's a fact that it happened.

Btw. I wonder just how much it rebounded. lol And how can it deliver strongly in key demos if the overall ratings are plain bad anyway. No way to spin it.

Umm.. what I quoted was not an excuse for low ratings, it was a statement about what the figures were for the following episode. There was no reference whatsoever to any kind of explanation of/excuse for the low ratings of Doppelganger.

Well, they could have done the nanite thing to fix that, give her character a new perspective, maybe have her missing for a few eps and then let her come back traumatised and seeing this a little different. The possibilities! But not write her out, for Christ's sake!

Personally, I think it would have been good to have done it right first time, but yeah, not write her out..

My bet is that 0.9 won't stay the record for the lowest rating for very long. 0.7 could very well be the magic number for one of the following episodes.


True. Still waiting for them to admit they have a problem and that they created it. Having the lowest ratings in the history of the franchise can hardly be a reason for a celebration and patting on the back for a job well-done.

I don't think that would happen in a million years. Can you even imagine M. being that humble? Admit to a mistake? I think he'd eat crow than do that.

]I think when season one ended and they were in contact with Earth it was the worse direction for the show to take. Honestly, they should have had Atlantis get themselves out of the hole they were in but no SGC had to come to the rescue.

I feel so sad about the wasted opportunities, the show could have been so much more then the mediocre 'cliched' rubbish it has become.

This has been one of my biggest gripes about SGA -- they should have been made to defend themselves. Every jam they got in, it was a magical solution from SGC. I am talking about when all hope seemed lost.

Well, it had to be... Larrin sucks, but she's hot. Plenty of spaceships and sfx in the episode as well. The key demographic must have been quite satisfied.
