The Anti Season 4 Thread (Spoilers). For complaints and misgivings ONLY.
1.2. LOL. It's at the main page. I feel somewhat happy about this. I'm evil.
That 1.2 is almost as good a sight as Browder losing his pants. I don't want to be mean, because I have some good friends who are watching and yet have been completely supportive of my decision to stop.
Still, I can't help that bubble of joy from tickling my insides in a most delightful way.
Your not evil!! It is just validation for everyone that feels the "shake up's" & cast changes were big mistakes. Include me in the list.
no, season 4 was/is a big mistake. It's time for me to say it again they should have cancelled SGA and continue witth season 11 of SG-1. Damn, I want Ori back, Adria back, Vala back
Hi Parisindy, its good to see your still about. the anti couch is missing you ((group hugs))
I see a 1.2 although they are apparently this season adding on other points for tivo (or whatever it is)
i wonder wether scifi takes into account that last seasons 1.5 opener would have also been bumped up higher if you ran the ratings as they are doing now. also if it had the added promotion that previous seasons did not.
i realy dont see how the low ratings can be completly blamed on the hiatus and this tivo/what ever thing.
if you comapre the basic to the basic which season did better? the one before it was shook up in all the wrong places? the one where promotion was based around one charachter? or maybe the one who had backing from the new PTB that included insulting fans from all parts of fandom if they had a differing view? or hey the one where they assume that there fans must love sg1 because they like sga and being force fed sg1 is going to make you like it. diversity TPTB your fans love different shows and different charachters for different reasons (mine personaly i liked sga because it had no sg1 characters in it...you see my problem)
it seems to me that all this has done nothing to improve the sga situation and now we will never know wether if it had been allowed to grow as it was with an improved/changed writting staff it could have drawn in other fans for being itself not a leather and bondage fest with darker overtones and penchance for killing off people who have DR in there title
is blah these points will never be taken into account by the PTB and thats a shame because you have to be open to the possibility that this could (is) be part of the problem before you can fix it.

Well, I have mixed feelings. Part of me felt that TPTB were making too many changes and depending on SG1 and I thought that this might come back and bite them. And I haven't been too pleased with one PTB's attitude toward some fans either. They made their bed, now they have to lie in it.
But if the show gets canceled then a lot of good people who had zero say in TPTB's decisions lose their jobs. So that's depressing.
Saw the 1.2 and it doesn't look good. Sheesh, fake Ghost Hunters beat SGA by quite a bit. The article on the front page of GW made the comment about Eureka only getting a 1.2 last week, but it was up against the season premier of House, which will kill anything. (I watched House, it was better than Lexa Doig's guest appearance on E. *LOL*)
That 1.2 for SGA was just a benchmark. To decide whether Skiffy will, or will not renew the show, they need to see how the audience reacts. Will the audience increase in week 2, 3, 4, or will it decrease? Remember, Trash Gordon got a 1.5 for its premiere, then fell to 1.0, and now wallows between .7 and .8. That's what Skiffy will be looking for - returning audience.

Right. I see the premiere ratings as more of a benchmark. A higher number of people generally tune in for premieres and then trickle away as the season progresses. The ratings will likely stay in the 1.2 range or drop further.
Interesting how SGA's 3.5 season averaged around a 1.2-1.3, had a 1.5 for the finale (likely bolstered by SG1's finale), and now it's back down to 1.2. So one could argue that they didn't lose that many viewers, but they didn't gain any either. We'll see how that holds up in the coming weeks.
The big concern is that SGA ratings are equal to or lower than ratings for other skiffy shows that are undoubtedly cheaper to produce. I'm curious how Journeyman and Bionic Woman reruns on skiffy will do ratings-wise. Plus, skiffy/NBC gets all the profits from the DVD sales of Flash, PKJ, and Eureka while it gets zero from SGA. That's going to be a big factor come renewal time.
Joe M. has stated that they'll know about renewal in the next couple of weeks. TPTB are going to be sweating, big time.
