All I'm hoping now is that they give us some closure. Having Ford possibly lost and forgotten out there was one thing.....please don't expect me to believe that they'd do the same with Elizabeth.
We will never know the real reason she was fired. Could be greed, could be anything. One think is for sure, we have no say in this . We are only good for buying the DVDs and take a couple snaps with our heroes at the con . We have no other input, do we?

What happened to Caldwell? Seems Ellis is the man now and I liked Caldwell more. There is no chemistry between Ellis and Sheppard. Caldwell on the other hand was arguing with Sheppard and vice versa but both respected each other.

Teryl died the same way Carson died. Or should I say, Carson died the same way Teryl died ?
Wow. TPTB were really airing out the old creative muscle there, weren't they?

I wish I could be positive about viewers at least getting some closure, but the track record isn't promising. It seems once a character is out of sight . . . well, sadly you know the rest.

You know, I've been trying to be positive, trying to look for things to be excited about, trying to focus on the things I like about S4. I'm just... a little tired right now. It just sometimes feels like everytime I get a good level of optimism built up, I keep getting kicked. I know I've put an unhealthy level of focus on this show, but...... I'm going to have to figure out how to disconnect and treat this like any other show I watch.

This isn't the only negative piece of SGA news I've had this weekend, but I won't go into the others. I just feel a little down right now. I really do want to like this season, but there's times it seems like everything's working against that.

Well I didn't watch FS, so I can't comment on Ellis, but I did love Caldwell. When other X-Files fans were fantasizing about Mulder, it was Skinner for me, so I was really happy when MP joined the cast.

I liked the way Weir and Sheppard and Caldwell all kind of danced around each other, testing the boundaries to see how far things could be pushed. Another set of dynamics wasted.

Well, it is a show about the last of their civilization struggling to survive, so a certain amount of darkness is to be expected. However, I liked how no matter what happened there was always a glimmer of hope every other episode or something, that these people may be stupid, arrogant, selfish, etc at times but they also do some great things too. I feel like that glimmer of optimism wasn't utilized as much in s3 and that, as well as several other problems, is the reason why that season wasn't as good.

One of the nice things about scifi Friday was that I could watch the Stargates to get my light and fluffy fix (problems are generally solved, team is rarely in real peril, deep philosophical questions are rarely contemplated) and then keep on watching for my complex and dark fix on BSG. They complemented each other in a way, though in truth many times I found myself comparing the two shows and having the Stargates come up seriously lacking. (Oh, if Weir had half the development that Roslin has had...)

I think describing it as popcorn fodder is fairly apt and one of the things I don't care much for is that they really haven't gotten a handle on serious character development outside of McKay...and possibly Liz. Teyla, Ronon and Shep though...I don't really know who they are all that much. I feel like we're seeing the facade of who they are and not getting into the meat of it. There are some exceptions...like with Sateda, but those instances are few and far between.
Agreed, and that's the main reason I liked Sateda so much. Ronon had some meaty development and changed from his cliched angry savage to a much more complex character. Plus: team bonding that felt legit!

Unfortunately, I don't think that the first two eps of s4 had that feeling of true emotion and bonding seen in Sateda and other earlier eps. There was too much action and not enough downtime to see how the team was responding to what had happened. Those are the moments I find more interesting. Oh well, maybe we'll get something meatier in the next eps?

For heaven's sake, why is it so hard?!? (not upset at you, just to make it clear) What is the point in leaving all the fans dangling forever? I tolerated it with Ford because he wasn't a central character. But please don't expect me to believe that Elizabeth is just out there somewhere for infinity and that the Atlantis team isn't moving heaven and earth to get her back. If they expect me to believe that John and Rodney are just going to forget about Elizabeth and never mention her again while she's still out there? No, I'm sorry - that stretches my suspension of disbelief far too far.

I do believe that Caldwell will be back this season, though who knows in what capacity (AKA "real" eps vs. "technical" eps, sigh ). I loved the headbutting and power struggles that popped up with Caldwell, though I disliked how it was always Weir and Shep vs. Caldwell instead of Weir and Caldwell vs. Shep or Caldwell and Shep vs. Weir. Actually, I found it all too convenient that Weir and Shep had a minimal amount of problems after Hot Zone. TPTB said somewhere that it was because the fans didn't want conflict between those two, but seeing as how they've continually skirted writing conflict period in both SG1 and SGA I have a different theory.

Oh, trust me I understand your frustration only too well. From a continuity POV (and from what we know of John and Rodney, not to mention Teyla and Ronon), it doesn't make any sense. But it seems TPTB have no use for Elizabeth any more. I bet that if Torri had not agreed to do some recurring work, they would have had Weir die in the first episode of season 4, or perhaps even in FS, and be done with it. I am afraid she is taking up permanent residence in Fordville.

Interesting how the article also called attention to Ford, his 4 eps, and how he's never been seen again. Maybe TPTB put that in all their actor dismissal clauses or something?
Yeah I don't get that. How can it be 2 and 4 at the same time??

This can only go as far as one is actually interested in meeting those heroes. And I highly doubt casual viewers will do that. It's the more invested fan who will do these kind of things. They bring in the DVD/merchandise-money.

Like I said somewhere else on this forum, it's like yelling to an empty room if someone could get you a coffee.

I'm sooooo high on Heightmeyer-drug at the moment and it makes me happy I can look forward to another episode (that makes 2 + 4 (-2) Elizabeth-ones). And then this sort of news is posted and I find myself on the couch of my favorite psychologist getting psycho-analyzed.

I haven't read the episode threads, but I was under the impression that her episodes are two-parters. So while she may be in four episodes, it's really only two stories? That's the only explanation that makes any sense.

I thought it was kinda obvious (especially with her "Adrift" example) that, although she is in 4 episodes, she doesn't get to do much in 2 of them.

I think what she meant was she features heavily in two of the episodes, and not-so heavily in the other two.

                            Episodes she features heavily in:
                            Lifeline
                            This Mortal Coin

                            Episodes she features lightly in:
                            Adrift
                            ?

Although I think that even though she doesn't talk much in Adrift, she is still seen quite a lot, and saving her is a pivotal part of the episode. I mean we didn't really expect her up and making cakes for the expedition in the first 2 mins of the episode.

I think I have an idea of her other episode now.
