God I hope not! I hope they never bring them back after season 4, not even happy they are in season 4, the less we see of them the better. Imho it is a waste to have them in a couple of eps, they didn't work in three seasons they are not going to work in a couple of eps

I don't even know why they are bothering to bring back Carson, of course I know a lot of peeps moaned and groaned about his leaving, but unless his appearance really makes a big difference to the story and adds to the other characters it will be nothing more then a waste of time. I am still convinced Carson's resurrection will be the worse event in season 4, but of course some will say it is the highlight...
There's a big fat green heading your way for this, Elizabeth Weir got on my for three long years and I wanted to put my foot through the screen everytime Carson started whining

I agree. When is Carson dead, he should stay dead. No miraculous return. I like Paul but his character was terribly imbalanced. He is in front action in one episode and then he complains about turtles in another. I will never understand why he had to be in front lines in few episodes.
I think he and Elizabeth suffer from "main character" syndrome. They are in Credits, they are main characters, so they simply have to be there, and doesn´t matter how pointless their presence in that episode is. Elizabeth stood somewhere with computer or went to mission where she didn´t have to be (whole Submersion episode for example). And she was also imbalanced. I liked her sometimes (Condemned or Siege) but sometimes I wanted to hit her (Michael, Allies or Progeny, where she told to Oberoth, who barely knew, that they have come from Atlantis )
I am not glad that Carter is there. I think Caldwell would be much better on her place. But I can´t say that I do mind that Weir leaves.

I didn't mind Carson so much, but then he was not in my face the way Weir was, but his accent which I think was a little too, well more a take on a Scottish accent, rather then a Scottish accent (see Matt Fewer doing an Australian accent in Eureka to get my meaning) his mannerisms and the fact he really wasn't needed in many of the scenes they put him in and the whole retro virus thing... it all made me less upset about him dying.

Now he is dead, I am furious tptb are going to bring him back! Especially when I do think it is to pander to some over the top vocal fans. I am just glad Weir will probably be nothing more then a distance memory *or in my case nightmare* as it really seems clear to me they will not bring her back in any substantial way after this season. Even the press/promos seems to avoid *mentioning* her like the plague.

I don't think it is a syndrome lol but I get your meaning and it is one I have talked about in here and other places before. Just because Weir was in the credits does not mean she had to be front and centre, it did not mean she had to be in every episode. Just because they are in the infirmary did not mean Carson had to be the doctor to take care of them.

Actually I think almost from episodes 5/6 SGA was about the team, some like that some hate it, but I think SGA is now about McKay/Sheppard/Ronon/Teyla... hopefully Carter will be seen less then Weir was, and Keller will only be in scense where it makes sense to have a doctor, also I hope Keller isn't too handy with a gun, I see no reason to make her some super armed up doctor just 'cause she goes off world a few times.

TPTB must have known what the reaction to killing Carson would be, I agree, with all the threats of switching off from the more hysterical fans TPTB paniced and bought him back with no thought of story arc.

"Carson, I had so horrible dream!"
But Rodney and Carson in shower would probably kill half of the female viewers

Hey, if Rodney and John got it together in the shower even I would set the video. Hell why do you think the last ep of Torchwood was so popular among the female fans *Ahem*Take a look at my sig*Ahem*

Ha, Carter will be front and center in every of her 14 episodes.

I admit that Carson suffered from his main character status. I never understood why Paul was suddenly in the opening credits. I saw him more like Fraiser was in SG1. She was there a lot, not as a main but still front and center when the need would arise for it.

Weir, however, I cannot agree to any of your views. I love her as a leader. She may have her flaws, I admit to that... and the writing of her characters isn't helping there either. But I'd rather have a civilian in charge than a military mind. That's what I liked about Atlantis, the civilian aspect. I swear, I have to agree with Kavanagh when he mentioned in 38 Minutes he had it up to here with the military. I wanted to see something different. And to me Atlantis isn't about the core team... It's not SG2, it's about the expedition and their little adventure in the Pegasus Galaxy.

If that sentiment is lost from now on... I'll just have nothing left to say but criticize the whole thing to kingdom come. Because I will watch, I have to make sure that the reviews aren't all "Squee-like". But don't think I won't say anything good, when I like it, I'll say so... When I don't, I will too.

May I add, Weir could have been given more screen time and better writing, but I like her because of her flaws and the fact she isn't perfect and know - it - all. And no, I won't be watching any more.

Carson could have been given more time and episodes like "Poisoning the well", a backstory wouldn't hurt (heck we could say that 'bout anyone except Rodney) but I don't consider him waste of space. He was likeable and lovable. In my eyes ditching him doesn't make any sense.

And may I add, there is an existing anti Weir thread, so you can take your complaints about her there.

ohh me too. I'm tired of all-confident loudmouth colonels, tired of hearing the word sir, tired of "I got my orders", tired of the girls in atlantis tying their hair back, and generally tired of dumb people overrated thanks to rank.

We've already got 10 years of that. SGA should be its own show, not this pale SG-1 imitation. Unfortunately, I don't see much difference between the two series right now.

The day I see anything of that calibre come out of the Atlantis stable, I will happily eat humble pie, unfortunatly the only thing I've got from the Atlantis cast so far is splinters

Guys, we need a little clarification here.

this thread is ANTI SEASON FOUR...which means that ANY AND ALL complaints/misgivings about ANY aspect of season four are welcome here. Complain about weir being gone, carter coming, the plot of episode 3, the uniforms, carson being gone, ford being gone, teal'c visiting....ANYTHING and everything for season four.

There is no aspect of the upcoming season that is off limits (barring, of course, personal comments about the actors, which are always forbidden).

There is no fan that is barred from posting here. as long as their posts are on topic, meaning that they are expressing an issue or misgiving for season four, anyone can post here.

Folks that read here will just need to be tolerant of others and respectful of others.

and if you don't think you can do that, then stop reading this thread.
