I actually think Team Shep is alive and well. It's Team Atlantis that's been shattered.


Thanks for making me smile tonight guys. The alphabet choices have been inspired.

for me the team included Carson and Weir, i really didn't seem them as seperate groups... they were one large team.

But as i've said it before, Atlantis was special because unlike most shows where i will only watch for one character or two that i like, i loved the whole group. there wasn't one character that i didn't like

i can't say that anymore, the very essence of the show has been destroyed for me

The sad thing is though I'll be willing to bet that TPTB would read your post and say "but we did do all those things, the true fans see that and appreciate us". LOL.

I wish they read this and even for a brief moment consider my words. As I read in one interview they think that we will have a good opinion when we see the new episodes. And I'm sure they will stick to that opinion because it makes them feel good with themselves and they don't have to worry much.

And I am not saying that I might not have a good opinion, maybe I will like the new episodes, there is a good chance for that because I like this kind of sci-fi and most of the old Atlantis team is still there, for a longer time I hope.
But they will be different episodes with different relationships and evolution, different mistakes and decisions. It will be something else.
I was watching the Atlantis 3 seasons these past few days and tried to imagine what I would be like without seeing Elizabeth and Carson, by the way, there. You know what I felt like? like something important was missing, like someone has taken me from the ral Atlantis and had placed me in a dull copy.
And I am sure I will not like having another leader for the Atlantis expedition. NOT EVER!

Elizabeth/Torri, as someone said on this forum, has her subtleties, her small gestures and looks which are not written in the script that make her what she is and gave me a better understanding of the character faster that any other.
We all know Sam/Amanda, we all know how she is, how smart, funny and perfect she is. We know Sam after 10 seasons in SG-1 where the character has been developped very nice. But I stick to nice when it comes to her. Elizabeth/Torri on the other hand is great!
Sam doesn't think like Elizabeth, she doesn't have that strength within her that spreads all over the people around her! she's not as compassionate and vulnerable as Elizabeth. And, yes, she made some mistakes and was undecided, but she's learning and developping in the process! because of these things she's more human that Sam.

Make as many seasons as you like but I will consider it another show with the same name!

Exactly! They took the essence away. Well said.

Usually it's better to developp a show, start from something 'normal' and get to something great, in time. In this case, it looks like it gets from 'something great' to .... 'something', I don't even know how to classify it. Another show in the same set that trys to put together some of the old team members.

Remember John's list from Sateda? That's the team to me, and obviously to him also. Now 2/6 are gone. Who will be next? Everytime I hear about how S4 will include so much team character focus, I just think how can that be? The SGA team, as such, no longer exists. We are one step closer to the SG-1ification of SGA.

Well said both paris and Alexandra. I have begun looking at it as a new show staring JF, RL, DH and JM playing the same parts they played in SGA in order to stay at least a little positive. Sort of an SGAlite. I'm still hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but that will only happen if Weir is given a good ending. By my definition of good. I set the bar pretty high, I know.

The same thing happened to SG-1 not so long ago and the result was far from amusing, IMO. At least the actors weren't booted/demoted back then.
