Radek had alot of screen time in Quarantine and he saved the day, that's why I like it.

I really didn't like some of the dumbing down that they did to his character to make Sam look better. They didn't need to do that and then the Trio fiasco shortly after.
Gero said in the S4 videos that they had been waiting for an opportunity to make Zelenka look like no one liked him. That's not exact word quotes, I would have to listen to it again but it's close.
If they really wanted to do that then they shouldn't have made Radek such a wonderful character for S1 through S3.

From what I understand, most of the fans didn't really like or appreciate the comments in Trio.

They would have done better to keep the Keller, Carter deleted scene in then to have the Zelenka bashing scene which really did nothing for the show. Especially since there was no foundation for the bashing and since Rodney had always been made out to be the scientist that no one liked and had to grow on the team.

They've always shown Radek as being sensitive, caring, intelligent, competitive and yes cranky at times as well as hot headed and sometimes childish, but hell the same could be said for Rodney, Ronan and Sheppard.

One year a student from my school placed in the top ten of the National Forensics League (inter-state speech and debate team type thing) and because of that she got to go to Washington and meet the President. She labored on what she'd say for months and spent an obscene amount of time worrying that she'd screw up or dork out. By the time she left, she had this classy little speech all memorized.

When it finally came time to meet the President, Clinton shook her hand and said that she must be the student from Montana.

To which the student replied, "yes, sir. We have cows."

With that in mind, in my own little world Radek was so nervous about being trapped in a transport tube with The Samantha Carter of SG-1 that he spent his three hours flailing in a massive pile of fail. He tried to play the Pick on Rodney game he plays with Sheppard and Carter didn't like that; he made comments that would have instantly started a bicker-game with Rodney but Carter doesn't bicker; and then Carter ignored him and so in a last-ditch effort to salvage some sort of good impression he tried to help and learned the hard way that while he may have a magical ability to predict what Rodney's going to do, Sam's science process works in a completely different fashion. After that he just didn't say anything figuring he'd already shoved his foot so far in his mouth there was no saving anything. Which, of course, led to the very awkward pigeon conversation.

Of course, to top off the SamCarter!Eeek nerves, in the back of his mind is the thought of all the horrible things McKay is going to do to him out of jealousy because Radek was stuck in a transport tube with Carter and McKay wasn't.

Rodney: You were stuck in a transport tube with Sam Carter -- classic porn-flick setup -- and you expect me to believe nothing happened.
Radek: *wishing the ground would swallow him whole* No, Rodney, nothing happened.
Rodney: Nothing better have happened because you're just an uglier, less-talented version of me.
Radek: *longsuffering headdesk* And you are a little, little man with no chance and less good sense.
Rodney: SOMETHING DID HAPPEN!

Not a fun thing to look forward to on top of having made an idiot of yoruself in front of the second most famous person in the SGC after Jack O'Neill -- who also happens to be your new boss.

In my own little world. Outside my own little world, Martin Gero is... the opposite of brilliant. Not everything can be Babylon 5. ~.^

I apologize iolanda, I was so caught up with Radek in Quarantine that I forgot this was a tough episode for Rodney thunkers as well. (I know you thunk both, especially Rodney! )

I saw it similar. Radek was trying to look good for the new boss and ended up making himself look bad. I like the pigeon conversation, I thought it was hilarious and a nice tie in to Echos and some of Radek's backstory. David and Amanda played the scene quite well.

Those two stuck in the elevator soooo reminded me of a similar situation with my last boss that even though I didn't quite like how Radek was portrayed, I found myself laughing at David's expressions throughout the whole scene.

My last boss and I didn't connect too well not even at a conversation level and I did end up making myself look like an idiot on a business trip that he, another co-worker and I had to take. We were in the car and I was in the front seat - so it was a small enclosed enviroment as well! If only Asgard beaming techology worked when we needed it!
At least I wasn't the only one in the department to eventually have a similar experience though!

Needless to say, Sam didn't get much sympathy from me in "Trio." "I was stuck in a transporter with Zelenka for three hours; that was hard" -- cry me a river, chica. Sounds like a pretty good way to spend three hours to me.

And Radek can sniff my hair anytime. Nevermind he was probably high at the time anyway, seeing how the only time he'd really see Keller is while, she was, you know, working. *snort*
