Nice pic and link watcher! I hear ya Rosehawk about the Eww stuff...it'll never replace SGA or SG1 no matter how hard they try.

I don't think they are trying to replace either show, just taking the franchise in a different direction. The direction seems to be working for the stereotypical sci-fi age group more than for the now older group that grew up with it and shared SG with their families. Alot have made the transition and alot have not.

What I would like to see is somehow they could add Zelenka to an episode or two. One where the Destiny needs some information that may reside on Atlantis (or for an unusual twist - something found or tied into the Czech Republic that could help Destiny out!) and Zelenka is the one helping them out.

Of all the cross-over ideas, Radek's makes the most sense. He won't steal the story like some of the other bigger characters might, rather Radek would blend beautifully to a story on Destiny.

And keeping up with David's career is always a good thing.

Wicked Nykl shots Rosehawk!! With regards to U,I don't understand why TPTB decided that gratuitious sex,whining,and stereotypes would win or keep the fanbase. Don't get me wrong,the premise for U sounded interesting but after watching the first 4 episodes,I was gobsmacked at how far the franchise has fallen. With both SG1 and SGA,within the first two episodes,villains were quickly established and the awe of traveling to different worlds was palpable. Confusion was my first reaction to the U premiere as plotholes were more prevalent than anything else asides from the gratuitous sex scenes and whining. I gave SG1 and SGA four episodes each to attract and hold my interest (which they did) and also gave U the same four episode challenge (for lack of a better word) and sadly,it failed to hold my interest in the least. I don't have any animosity towards the U actors as they're only working with what they're given script wise but the franchise has jumped the shark with U. Instead of continuing the traditions of exciting villains and the awe of Gate travel,U has lots of sex,whining,and stereotypes. How is this supposed to be a "grittier,darker,sexier" Stargate? *hops off soap box and dodges rotten fruit* Sorry for the rant. Still a bit aggro with this stupid chest cold and the meds have loosened my tongue a bit. Gonna look at some Nykl shots and get into bed. Okay,that last sentence came out a tad wonky. *curses chest cold and the yucky meds that fogged my noggin* G'night folks! }:O

How can I possibly throw fruit at you for that? I agree with you. I might watch future episodes, but I definitely don't have the excitement and loyalty for it as I had for SG1 and SGA. It's just not the same. It's like a dark version of Survivor meets Stargate.

From a creativity standpoint it is good to try different things. What I struggle to try to understand is why people think that backstabbing, power games, plotting behind peoples back, fighting, gratuitous sex is all signs of great writing that should win awards, etc and shows like SG1 and SGA get ignored. It's just as much work and creativity to make those shows work as it does shows like SGU.
Personally for me, I've been through too much in my life and have seen some really dark sides of people that I don't care to ever ever experience again which is why shows like SGU and BSG don't work for me. I can tolerate it for periods of time (episodes, movies) but not continiously every week - it's just a big turn-off. Even some shows that I really truly like like Lost and 24, I have to walk away when it gets too bad. 24, while I still watch, I don't watch it regularly anymore because I got tired of characters that I liked were getting killed off all the time. Same with Lost.

I still think that SGU could benefit with some episodes with Zelenka in them!

As far as I remember, it was Zelenka who pointed out the Ninth Chevron Problem to McKay in one of the deleted scenes of SGA season five (why they deleted it when it will be the whole point in the following spin-off plot is another mystery to me). Since McKay is always busy doing other things, it would make perfectly sense to cast David Nykl in one or two episodes as the "recurring Atlantis Character". Plus, it would make us fans really happy.

SGU better starts to get exiting the second part of the first season. Except for Rush maybe, I have actually no really an interest at all in the characters and story, and I will never get so excited about it like I am for Atlantis or SG-1.
