Radek Zelenka/David Nykl Appreciation, Thunk, Translation Thread

I'll probably give it a try. Since I never actually see the shows the night they're broadcast, scheduling isn't an issue for me. I might even wait to see if people in general love it or it gets panned, before spending my time. I too was a little disgruntled at the tone towards us older viewers! As well as the stated assumption that we'd watch anyway because we needed our SG "fix."

I am just taking it as a sign that it is time to get a life once again!

Radek is the one I'll miss the most, definitely! Especially since there have been hints that the movie will be delayed.

To be honest, I will be surprised if we even get a movie at this point. It just seems that Atantis is getting the creative shaft all the way around.
I really like seeing Nykl and Hewlett work together, they are so going to be missed! Maybe those two can do something together in the future and the movie 'Helen' doesn't count because even though they both are in the movie they didn't work together in that movie!

Yay! And, my birthday is the day after David's! Even more reason for fun pics!

You know what I would love to see even more is David Nykl and Torri doing a project together. Those two really did have some great on-screen subtle chemistry going on. David said somewhere that he and Torri were friends outside of work.
Course I would like to see David doing something with Viggo Mortenson too seeing as they are both in my top 5 favorite actors list!

I don't think I will give SGU much of a chance. I am not a SG fan I am an Atlantis fan. I'm not going to watch just because it is Stargate. I am one of the older fans (50) that feel slighted by tptb. I realize that shows run their course and maybe Atlantis did for the most part...though not in my heart...but to throw it away like they did for a newer model is wrong. That's my opinion which doesn't count for much but it is mine and I am entitled to it.

I hear ya! Though Robert Carlyle has peaked my interests. Haven't seen alot of his work, but what I have seen I really like.

It's just that if tptb can throw fans away like the studio's did when they announced SGU and then have done very very little to sooth that over for the fans that they hurt/slighted then I have to question whether it is worth my time or not. TPTB seem to prefer the controversy over the other since controversy keeps more people talking and keeps SGU visible. Ultimately fans are just numbers to the studio's and they feel that they will gain more than they lose.
Personally I don't care for shows that get too dark. I can't watch much of BSG because it is too dark. If I want dark, I just go back and would write about my life experiences, I don't need my relaxation time to bring me down as well. Once in awhile is okay, but all the time, no thanks - I don't need those emotions being brought up all the time and SGU sounds like it is going to be darker than the other two.

I've watched Stargate since the 1st year in went into syndication and I have been hooked on Stargate ever since. When my daugher was younger, during the long winter weekends we would pop in a DVD and watch an episode or two while eating lunch. She liked Stargate until she started High School and then Scifi was for the geeks!
Universe will most likely be the exception of me watching on a regular basis. Until they find a better way to market the show other then slap their older viewers in the face like they did when they first announced SGU, I'm not inclined to stay as loyal as I use to.
They may treat actors that way, the business can be tough on them as they get older, however fans are not actors and are not in the business to be treated like that.
I will probably watch Universe but will no longer keep Friday nights reserved for watching Stargate, if I'm home great, if not I will catch it another time.

And I'm really gonna miss Radek!

Nope Pajus, I am not turning Anti. There is a big difference in being Anti and then in being disappointed. You will see me express an opinion every now and then, sometimes get involved in a discussion and then I will let it go and get on with it since Stargate is not my creative decision. I may watch SGU from time to time but you are not going to see me pick it apart as Anti's tend to do - I expect SGU to be an excellent show.
My biggest beef with SGU, other than they cancelled SGA for it, was how Studios - MGM and Scifi handled the original announcement and have done very little to change that, instead opting for controversy to continue to keep SGU in everyone's sights. TV's a luxery, not a necessity in life and if they can't make me feel better watching their show then I will find other things in life that can do that and waiting until the promos come out later this summer is a tad bit too late.

I'm happy that my keyboard here at work isn't Ancient (it's not even ancient, in fact). Radek would not be happy with me, and would curse colorfully at the sight of soggy tea-dipped biscuit that I just had to clean out of the keys. Oops. I should really be more careful eating my breakfast! (Although it would have been fun to hear him, and that scene from The Brotherhood did play through my mind- I guess I had a Stargate moment.)

Yep, at least it was simple. The gas cap was cracked. It's just when the Service Engine Soon light goes on, you don't want to take any chances, it could be anything. So it was an easy fix, they had everything done in less than an hours - wheww!
