      even if they did work properly, if it was the right thing for them not to work properly (if the city really should go back to Pegasus), he could make that happen. Whatever the IOA thought. Remember in First Strike, the scene where he and Rodney were having second thoughts about getting the bombs ready? He would do it if it was the right thing, and if he got permission from the right people. I bet Woolsey would go along with it- we know he's smart enough to know they'd prove the IOA wrong eventually.

              Except for the fact

              Sheppard wasn't on the Hive until well after the teams from Atlantis had arrived. Meaning that if Woolsey had sent the nuke/naquadah generator Sheppard would have been almost there and hey! Lookit! The Hive's blowing up! U-turn! Mysterious Laws of Physics Failure allows me to outrun the blast and survive!

              Secondly, the nuke was not even mentioned as a possibility, much less discounted for some reason. That's why it's a plothole instead of just a dumb decision I could have lived with out of tradition. Coming from Woolsey, that's a really big plothole, big enough to drive me completely insane.
