I actually can't see Radek dragging a fellow scientist, not intentionally anyway, into heckling McKay...as you said he is too good with the people he works with.
McKay runs his department in such a way that belittling and shouting are considered appropriate means of communication. Furthermore, Sam and Radek are the only scientists McKay comes close to respecting, the same two scientists who are the ones most often stepping up on him. Therefore I give a handwave to inviting or cajoling the other scientists into heckling McKay since Radek is smart enough to percieve that the only way Mckay's subordinates are going to be able to win McKay's respect is by giving him some of his own back. A lot of his own back.
Besides, big picture: if Radek was flirting with her in earnest, then Esposito was ignoring them because "ew, the geeks are flirting with me and why couldn't Ronon have been assigned escort duty." This makes Esposito an idiot. On the other hand, if Radek was trying to include her in heckling McKay, she's ignoring him because "good God, don't those two ever quit." That means that she, like most of the other scientific community, has yet to percieve the point in my first paragraph. Which makes her normal. ~.^

While I agree that McKay runs his department in a very belittling manner, I still don't see where that would cause Radek to welcome others to belittle McKay..we haven't seen that in Radek.....the closest was in Quarantine when he was in the transporter with Sam and even then it was more of a surprise observation then it was a belittlement...besides Sam wasn't a subordinate.
It doesn't look good for one department head (Radek) to encourage subordinates to belittle or encourage the belittlment of a supervisor, no matter how bad that boss might be.
Standing by a subordinate when the boss is wrong is not the same as encouraging heckeling of that same boss. Most management I know expects that behavior to be with peers and away from subordinates.
Radek treats others pretty decently so he more than makes up for Rodney's rather poor administrative skills.
Rodney could care less what his subordinates think so no matter how much they want to give it back to him, I don't think it would phase Rodney in the slightest...People like Sam, Radek, Sheppard have much more of an influence on Rodney's behavior then the subordinates do.

Huh, how does this make Esposito an idiot? If she doesn't find Radek attractive then she doesn't ( OMG god, fangirl blasphamy) ....it was pretty clear in the episode she liked men more physical fit and closer in her own age group as I suspect Ronan is .
We don't know if Radek was flirting with her in ernest...he could have been doing it just to irate Rodney.

I wouldn't call it heckling. Radek and Rodney are in constant competition with each other. If Radek perceived Rodney liked Esposito, I could see him testing the waters to see if she was interested....after all you have to say or do something in order to find out....
Hey! Look at the second to last picture, is that a bracelet he is wearing? Thoughts?
David does have have a few bracelets that he does wear....this is probably one of them......I don't know if fans have every asked him about them though, would be kind of fun to find out.
*edit*I just double checked my photo op with David and he was wearing this bracelet, and another one that looks like a male charm bracelet, in the photo op, so it is totally a David thing!

I think I've seen him wearing a bracelet in other episodes too. Not sure if that's part of the wardrobe since I've also seen David wearing one in con photos. I'm also not sure if it's the same one!

Neat! It is interesting stuff to know. Kinda like the whole mystery surrounding John Sheppards black wrist band.
Hmm too bad we don't have a better view of it. From this vantage point I was almost thinking it was one of those medical alert bracelets or something.
Lets just say Radek Zelenka can be my Mad Scientist any day!
sigpic Thanks to Humanityspotential for the awesome Zelenka Siggie!
