Why, oh why has nobody written the Quarantine fic where
Spoiler:
the obvious smut that ensues in that scene lets them have a lot more fun in that transporter than TPTB let them have? Do I have to write it myself?
LOL. Probably.
Spoiler:
If it doesn't exist it's probably because alot of people didn't like the scene because Radek caught an innocent glance at Sam's assets.
Plus it was apparent that Sam didn't think as highly of Radek as she did of Rodney. My thoughts on this may be slightly tainted by the commentary on the DVD.

And as for that third pic... for all that Shep's military, he doesn't wear a thigh holster nearly as well!
*giggles* Leave it to the geek to show the military the 'right way' or at least the 'fangirlish way' to wear a holster!

he would succeed in the vents, because she knows now that he's very good at wriggling around in tight spaces.
LOL. Ahhhh, the image of Radek wriggling his behind all around is just simply, too non PGish!

Ah, I haven't seen the commentary. But-
Spoiler:
The chemistry wasn't really there, I agree. I think Pajus has the right idea about a Razzie version.

Spoiler:
The commentary was with Amanda Tapping and Martin Wood. It actually was a nice commentary but it was hard for Zelenka fans to listen to some of the things Martin said about Sam's reaction to Zelenka.
He pointed out Sam's distain for Radek, which there was one point when Radek was talking and couldn't see Sam that she did have a look of utter distain for him. When I saw the scene in the show, I didn't see it has distain, I saw it as Sam just trying to figure Zelenka out.
I liked the fact that they showed characters not always meshing, so I thought the elevator scene was funny, especially the part about the pigeons when Sam was trying to connect with Radek and he just didn't quite get it. It was just a tad bit difficult to listen to in the commentary and get a whole different perspective. I'm guessing this was the start of the Radek bashing in the writers minds that continued on in that horrible scene in Trio.

I didn't see that either, but that could just be my bias too- it would never occur to me that someone might not like him.

I agree it's good to have characters not always liking each other, as that would be unrealistic. But for Radek fans such as ourselves, we just find it hard to believe that anyone wouldn't like him-
Spoiler:
and also can't imagine anyone not wanting to rip his clothes off if they were trapped somewhere with him for hours.
Oh, and about that one scene, if I'd written it, it would have ended differently...
Spoiler:
: Like homing pigeons – you tie a little S.O.S. note to their feet and ... : Yeah, but there's no window in here. : I know. I was just ... You know, you are just so damn cute. : *looks startled* Really? : *slides over closer* Yeah. : *beams* : *pounces* Lots of smooching, then we switch to a different scene because we have to stay PG at least here

I have to admit that that would've looked a lot more natural had that been Elizabeth
I have to admit that that would've looked a lot more natural had that been Elizabeth
In that scenario, it would have gone like this:
Spoiler:
: The control mechanism is not responding. Perhaps I can physically open the door. *pushes the door lightly with one finger* Nope, doesn't work. : Do you think we should try calling Rodney or John? : Maybe at some point. *lifts eyebrows and smiles at Elizabeth* : *pounce*
-- Some time later --
: I hear voices outside the door. Is that Colonel Sheppard and Major Lorne? : Shhhh!
I didn't see that either, but that could just be my bias too- it would never occur to me that someone might not like him.
Spoiler:
I think that is why the Trio scene hit fans the wrong way. Radek is one of the most loveable characters to ever come out of SGA. I've only seen a few negatives and that has typically been about his accent and the poster was just trying to be negative, not realizing that the actor is Czech, has spent timing living in the Czech Republic and speaks Czech quite fluently.
In Trio's commentary, Gero made a comment that no one liked Zelenka and fans are scratching their heads going WTF, where did that come from because we most certainly see him interacting quite well with all of the characters from the show and fans sure seem to love him.

LOL. Though I like this scene much better with Elizabeth!

ROTFLOL. Now that's the way that scene should have been written!

Spoiler:
Well, if by "caught an innocent glance" you mean "they were shoved almost in his face" then yes, I suppose he did.
All he did was turn around and bam! There they were. His face right afterward certainly looks more awkward than pervy:
Especially since it was followed up with a glare:
That whole set of scenes didn't work for me. The script had Sam being unlike herself (at least compared to SG-1) for one, and then even though Sam was eyerolling and saying the lines, Tapping and Nykl get along so well (AT's featurette) that it all just fell flat, IMO. Kinda like The Scene in "Trio." Sam does that sort of thing since when?
I'm not a Carter fan -- I call her Mary Sam for a reason -- but because she's Captain/Major/Lt. Col Apple Pie and Hushpuppies that whole sort of nastiness just really didn't ring true for me. The latter half of S4 and this start of S5 is not moving me to give TPTB many brownie points for consistent characterization. Everyone, to some extent, is all over the place.
I like the scenes here (both Sam/Radek and Razzie) much better.

I certainly agree. I never, ever thought that Radek looked pervy in this even though alot of the fanbase did. I got the same feeling of awkwardness that you did.
The scene made me laugh because I've seen (and had happen to me ) similar things like that in RL at work and it was so obvious that it was a total accident.

I haven't finished watching all the extras on the DVD's, sounds like I need to.
I agree, this wasn't the same Sam we had seen on SG1. I really didn't like what they did to her character on SGA and Sam is one of my favorite characgters. TPTB would have been much better to have move Woosley over right away, or better yet let Radek run SGA!

Spoiler:
I didn't notice him looking at anything either, until I read other people talking about it- in DragonLady's caps (and others I've seen) he certainly doesn't appear to be, and besides she isn't even showing any cleavage that I can see (unlike Rodney's fantasy in Grace Under Pressure, for example).
Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same show as a lot of the fanbase.
I like the scenes here (both Sam/Radek and Razzie) much better.

Spoiler:
: Where you headed? : Control Room. : Me too. We can share. : Splendid.
-- Later, they are trapped in the transporter. --
: Man, it's hot in here. *takes off shirt and stretches, flexing his pectoral muscles, grins* : *tries not to stare* : You should take yours off too. More comfortable. Want some help? *big smile, wink* : *pounce*
-- Much later --
: You thirsty? : *gasping* I'm parched. : *stands up, forces doors open* Let's go. Mess is this way.
They soon run into Sheppard et al, and the episode continues as in the original.

Or better yet, left Elizabeth.
I liked the part in BAMSR where Sam told off Ellis, but yeah, other than that Sam was not Sam. She was nastier and suddenly lacked the ability to stand up to Rodney. I can see Tapping's point that Sam couldn't be as confrontational with McKay as his boss as she was as a fellow scientist, but I think that could have been covered just by her phrasing things more nicely instead of being a doormat.
The fact that I was kinda hoping that Sam coming to Atlantis would mean she'd tell Rodney where to park his mouth when he went off on A Certain Subordinate nonwithstanding. Instead she chucked it in with McKay like Zelenka deserves it and-- oh-- that's just not Sam. She has her flaws but condoning bullying is not one of them.
Such as it was, McKay is so much meaner to Zelenka in S4 than he was in 1-3 that it almost looks like Elizabeth's fondness for Radek was holding McKay in check earlier.
