Sometimes life is funny:
Spoiler:
I was in town yesterday, together with my best friend. We went eating something and then decided to go for an ice. As we were sitting on a bench, in front of a pub, eating our ice, suddenly a voice came from behind "Ach, der Ingo und die Christina".
It was Achim, a classmate from school, I haven't seen him since around the time we finished school 1995. He is a really nice guy but I never had any deeper contact with him. I knew that he lives here, because he is head of the local group of a political party. It was really great to see him. We talked for a while, and then he said "do you like to go to the Irish Pub? There is a friend waiting inside this pub here, and we'd like to change locations, and if you want you can come with us."
Irish Pub is always great and so we agreed.
He went inside the pub again (since earlier this year it is forbidden to smoke inside of pubs unless they have special rooms, and so most people just outside for a smoke), came back with his buddy and said "That's Christian, we know each other since the time I finished school."
I looked at Christian, looked twice and said "I know you".
It was the guy I was searching (loosely) for years. He was the leader of an archaeological excavation I was working for at the time I finished school. Achim also worked there, that is when he also got to knew Christian. I worked there only a few weeks, the project was ending and I waited since for the publishing of the results. After I had access to the internet I searched it from time to time, without any hit and I grew concerned that something had happened. So you might guess that I was totally surprised that I met that guy here.
And - gosh - he was still good looking O.o
I mean, this guy is 14 years older than I am but I couldn't stop smiling at him. And he smiled back.
What was that? OK, he was a little bit drunk (the "tired" kind of drunk, not the "can't speak coherent anymore" kind of drunk), but nevertheless...
The whole situation really felt so not from this world.
Oh, I know now that the results never got published, because the organisation which financed the excavation did not want to pay for the final analysis of the dig.
And I am still a little bit stunned.
