You would not BELIEVE the X-Rated dream I had about this guy.....

      Spoiler:

Or maybe you would. It was a wild night and I had to go to work the next morning on the memory! UNF.....

OK, EDIT - I'm not sure how many of you have seen David's performance as 'Moonman' on the Canadian crime show: "Cold Squad." ((Netflix has it on streaming, go watch it now, season 3, episode 6, 'Death, Lies, and Videotape'). This was my first experience with David's range. Up until then I'd only seen him as the mild-mannered scientist type or cameo characters with very little depth. I was quite in shock when I saw it. Regardless, my girlfriend found this one picture of David and said it was: "Moonman cleaned up." I have to say, seeing it - this is a true THUNK photo for me. There is absolutely no other word for it. HE. IS. HOT.

David's Moonman performance was just awesome. I saw that and then his Escape Velocity both in the same timeframe as watching Zelenka. I was amazed with the versitility in David's acting range which is just phenominal. I'd really like to see him do more dark characters as then we get to see a side of his acting that rarely gets to come out on the TV/Movie screen - the dark, mean, gritty type character.

I really wish tptb on some of these shows and movies would give him more of a chance to excercise that talent! And it's got to be ones that fans get to see, not just up in Vancouver where his theater work has a limited fan audience.

P.S. Did anyone else have a cheeky thought concerning Nykl Flicks? *smirks* lol

David IS in Escape Velocity for the first eleven minutes and then he comes back near the end for another 10 minutes or so. Let me just put it this way: those 20-odd minutes alone are worth the $3.50 or whatever you're going to pay for the movie + shipping. The film is not that great - with the exception of Peter Outerbridge and David Nykl, (and MAYBE Wendy Crewson), the acting is subpar. The plot and subplots are thin, without much meat to them. The special effects are scaringly awful. BUT......for David, oh man.....did you read what I put up there? Those 20-odd minutes granted me an X-rated dream the likes of which I have not had in YEARS. He is hot in the movie. And creepy. You really want to do very bad things to him - but you're terrified of him too. Rent the film first, but seriously - if you can find it for $10 or under, I'd just buy it. (Besides,w hen Nykl isn't steaming up the screen, Peter Outerbridge is pretty hot too!)

As for 'large' parts - I'm not sure Nykl has 'large' parts in many films. I believe he was in a film called Voodoo and he is considered the leading actor. I haven't seen it. I recommend finding Pterodactyl as well - it's another 'bad sci-fi' movie but I guarantee you'll have to look twice to recognize him! He's not in it a lot but the film is worth a watch, even just to laugh at!

Of course David's biggest film to date would be The Beast of Bottomless Lake and according to what I've gathered the man does it all in this one - humor, sex, drama, etc.

I would not recommend The Seamstress or Helen, though those may be his easiest films to get a hold of. You GLIMPSE him perhaps twice in the first film, (and you listen to him die a very painful death), and he's got maybe 3 lines in the second one.

I think those are all of his films I've seen so far...as to TV shows I'm sitll working on those. He is the reason I got into Eureka (he plays a Radek-esque character in one episode). He's a bit comical in one episode of Psych. His brief appearance in Human Target MADE the episode for me, (I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it, but you may be rolling on the floor when you do). He was there and gone in one episode of Sanctuary. I mentioned Cold Squad already, and though he's in five episodes of that show, his most memorable performance is of course the Moonman. I know he's in Jake 2.0 but I haven't seen it. And....I think that's all of his TV shows I've seen. I still have a lot of catching up to do. But it's David, so it'll be fun.

            Hope that helped! Enjoy!!

Of course, I've got lots of cheeky thoughts concering Nykl flicks!

The only one where he has the lead in that's out there is "The Beast of Bottomless Lake".

Voodoo is a movie short and if anyone get's ahold of it let me know. As far as I know, it's just showing at a few film festivals and then it goes off into movie short heaven. I just missed getting to see it when I was in Vancouver last Spring. It was showing on a day that I was there and I didn't know it.

Escape Velocity is fun to watch. Movie is not that great but David really is good in it. He's creepy. His voice and laugh creeped me out the first time I watched it. It was also the first time I heard that kind of sound coming out of his mouth. So unZelenka like.

Another one that's a bad movie but fun to watch is "Act of War". He plays an American diplomat that is a bit of a jerk. You get to see him in the tux. He's in the first half of the movie. The role is small but we do get to see alot of him.

Pyterdacty is probably the worst movie I have even seen, except David is fun to watch. He's just about the only character I can stomach watching. I love watching his facial expressions in the movie. I really like the two lead actors as well but they were working with some pretty bad stuff and don't get me started on how poorly acted they had the young actors acting.

Helen, David was suppose to have a much bigger role but it looks like it got cut. The movie is a good movie and I'd recommend watching if you like the two lead actresses. Nayari's right, David's was only in it for about 3 seconds.

Seamstress, David's role is small but pivotal to the movie so if you like horror movies it's a good one to watch. I don't like scary movies but I liked this one.

You might be able to find 'Encounter with Danger' which was a TV movie David made with Shannon Dourghty a few years ago. He's another bad guy but at least this time he doesn't die in it. His role is small but worth watcing.

I recently found 'Hidden in Silence' which is a World War II movie and has a very young David Nykl, probably in his twenties. The guy hasn't gain much weight at all. He's one of several Jews that are hidden in an attic for two years. Kelly Martin has the lead and Marion Ross is also in it. Again David's role is small but the movie is a good one to watch. I think it actually was on TV as I sort of remembered bits of it when I watched the DVD.

Haven't been able to get ahold of much else.

Oh my, you found Hidden in Silence? And a David in his 20s? The only hint I've seen of how he looks young is that picture from Cold Squad. MMmmmmm I am totally going to tear apart stores and Netflix looking for that movie now.

Pterodactyl is really one of those movies you watch just for David. It's your basic bad creature flick. I'm just one of those people who REALLY LOVES bad movies. You want another crazy one? Boa VS. Python with David Hewlett! The movie is so bad it's PRICELESS, and don't even get me started on David H!!!

Oh my God, David Nykl's laugh in Escape Velocity sent a chill down my spine. He also has my favorite line of the movie (no spoilers though so you HAVE to see it). And I love the way he delivers some of his lines too, especially in his first scene with Peter Outerbridge. You know - immediately - that he's a bit insane.

Now I want to go watch it.

His late twenties...looks like the movie was out in 1995.

I can't remember where I ordered it from but I did get it on-line. Check Amazon.com but watch out for the playing region. I had a hard time finding one for the US region.

David's role is small but very nice!

You know, speaking of his blog, maybe we should give Bunny Boy the White Rabbit's pocket watch. He he he. (I couldn't resist given this entry's title.) I know, I'm bad.

P.S. For those of you who don't know, HyperCaz once gave him the nickname "Bunny Boy" because of a screen shot of him from Letters from Pegasus where he looked like a rabbit. Just F.Y.I. (for your information).

He was also in a fringe episode. He wasn't a main character, but he was in it. Also, I saw the Jake 2.0/Middleman episode on YouTube if anyone's interested and if it's still there. He was in a pretty good chunk of that one.

Yep, he was in a Fringe episode last year. He was a Reverand that was not too heavenly, if you know what I mean!

He needs to get some more reoccurring character parts. I'd like to see him in Falling Skies. He be a good choice as the lead character's brother or brother-in-law!

Plus Hypercaz got David to go along with the joke and he posed as a bunny with her! A few years later, she went to another con that David was at and he remembered being 'Bunny Boy'!

Well you know Crimsonravenwolf...there are Playboy Bunnies... so there is no reason for us to not expect that there should be male bunnies who like to play around a bit!
