Thanks guys for your comments, I know I'm being silly and I can understand why people don't read WIP's. That's why I didn't even think about posting my story up until it was all plotted out and mostly written in first draft form. Though I've done a fair amount of rewrites on it as I've gone along.

            Nice pics Linzi

Josie, I actually like reading WIP's. I like having to wait for chapter updates. I don't enjoy waiting too long for an update though! If the story is complete, and it's not a one shot, then I crave more. Reading the fic in separately updated chapters is quite exciting, I think. I can understand why some don't enjoy wating though.

The leg wound ficcy (Getting to be a Bad Habit) is nearly finsihed - just awaiting an epilogue.. maybe you were thinking of that one?
*smacks head* you've got to be kidding, LOL, that's the one I thought but oh well, I'll switch to the other, I had one more chapter of Shrapnel till I was caught up.

I kind of enjoy reading them too. When you're really enjoying a story it's actually quite exciting to come home from work and find a new chapter waiting for you. But I also know the frustration of getting into a story and then finding that the author has seemingly given up on it.

Ali has so many stories on the go I'm amazed she can keep up with them all.

It's so frustrating...there was one on FF that I waited ages for there to be a update...and in the end, I gave up waiting...

I don't know how she manages it...I really don't. I can work on more than one at a time, but I couldn't post more than one actively...

I'm just impatient and disorganised really... I can't be bothered to wait until I've finished the whole damn thing before posting it and I most times don't have the fic particularly planned out when I start so I don't know exactly where it's gonna go or how long it will be!

However, I have never given up on a WIP and I guarantee that all of mine will be finished - though I can't say exactly when! But I am still working on all of them and percolating ideas etc.

I actually quite enjoy reading WIPs and *love* getting my email alerts telling me there is a new chapter - especially when it's a really good story and I'm really into it. If it's been a long time since the previous update I do sometimes have to go back and re-read the previous chapter but that doesn't bother me too much (one of my favourite House fic authors, Sy Dedalus, has a couple of great whumpy fics that have been WIP for over a year now and she goes through phases of updating regularly and of there being months between updates. But I love her work and so am just thrilled to see an update at all and I know she won't give up on the fic and will bring it to a conclusion eventually).

Don't worry too much about review numbers Josie - ffnet readers in particular are a fickle lot and don't tend to review much (which is partly why I made a promise to myself to always leave a review fior everything I read - do unto others etc.. ) though, I have to say, SGA fans certainly review more than House fans.. I get a lot more reviews per hits for my SGA fics than on my House ones. What I find really odd is you check your stats and find that people have put the story in favourites and/or on story alert - so obviously they must like it! - and yet not bothered to leave a review! Wierd!

Anyway - as I said, don't sweat it. Write for you and see any positive feedback as a nice bonus but not the be all and end all. On some of my WIPS I've had some chapters with like 20+ reviews and other chapters in the same WIP, being read by presumably the same people, receive only 11! One of those things. And don't forget - your chpater 8 went up while ffnet was having problems again so people may not have been able to review (and it has slipped their mind to go back and do so) etc.

Anyway. I'm off to bed and planning to spend a productive day in writing tomorrow. I plan to not spend quite so much time on here (sorry!) and really concentrate on my writing and get some updates done. How long I'll stick to that plan remains to be seen!

                      Gnight all!

Exactly Ali...I think I need to spend some time writing as well...to get back into the swing of it.

                        Anyways, goodnight hun! Sweet dreams!

Alot of people are telling me I write really well for McKay, which, quite frankly, I'm finding a bit worrying! Could it be that we have more in common than I'd care to admit? Maybe....
I adore whumping so much, and I really don't think anyone could ever whump Shep too much. Again, I find this a little concerning...

Well, I'm one of those ffnet readers who almost never leave a review... But there are several reasons.

First, I don't like WIPs. Because when I read something, I want to be sure there will be an end. And because since I can read many fics at the same time (within many fandoms), I easily forget what the story is about, and I have to go back to the first chapter. Annoying...

Second, because I don't really like to read something online. Especially not on FF.net where, even with a pop-up blocker, there's always one that manages to go through. Plus, the last times I went there, I got something that looked very much like a spyware. I prefer to save the fics on my comp, then print them so that I can read them later in my bed.
When I can finally do that, I've usually forgotten where I had got that fic, and since it can be months (even years...) later, I don't bother looking for it.

Third, I'm just an average reader. Either I like a fic, or I don't. But I can't really explain why. So I don't want to leave a review just to say 'Great! I like it!'
And I don't leave reviews for fics I didn't like, I just delete them from my comp (and my memory...)

That's why you haven't got any review from me yet Ali, Linzi, Josie and IWantToBelieve. I've got your fics somewhere on my comp and I'll read them later. I'll try not to forget to leave a review though

Good morning Whumpers I hope you're feeling better than I do this morning. I've been awake ALL night throwing up the only sleep I got was on the bathroom floor(Sorry if you've just having your lunch ). I feel as weak as a kitten, I'm not even going to attempt food until I have to, right now I'm attempting some peppermint tea.

So do any of you have any whumpy treats to cheer me up. Fics, pics, some little spoiler titbit that escaped my radar? Anything?
