Here you go Linzi- it's not quite on SGA, but here's an extended drabble of sorts- a brief bit of silliness in which John gets hit in the head with a frypan.
Spoiler:
John heard a resounding crash echo down the corridor, coming from the same direction in which he was headed; the mess hall. He unconsciously dropped into a semi crouch, straining his senses in an effort to scope out any danger that lay ahead. His hand followed the stiff leather strap of his thigh holster until his fingertips brushed the clasp. A well-practiced flick of the wrist, and his Barretta was comfortable weight in the palm of his hand. He slowed his pace, taking more care of how he placed his feet so as to approach the mess hall in silence. The wall was cool against his shoulder as he hugged in close, sidling up to the door as another metallic clang reverberated through the open doorway.
John held his breath as he slowly, carefully, peered around the door to assess the situation. For a moment, John was unable to form a coherent thought, he was so completely stunned by the sight before him. Zalenka crouched behind an overturned table; his fuzzy hair askew and his small frame shaking. John had a moment of fleeting concern, before the Czech turned slightly and his profile revealed a beet-red face and a mouth covered by a fist in an attempt to muffle his laughter. Tears were flowing unchecked down the scientist’s face.
John raised his gaze higher and he discovered the cause of the small Czech’s humorous convulsions. Atlantis’ Chief Scientist stood in the kitchen doorway, face as red as Zalenka’s. The cause of his colouration was obviously not humour however, as stood with squared shoulders and began yelling at the top of his lungs in anger.
He was also dripping butterscotch pudding.
John watched, enthralled, as golden globules of the sticky pudding rolled down McKay’s face and slowly saturated his science-blue uniform shirt. John felt his own laughter rise as McKay berated his companion with sarcastic creativity. He did feel, however, that it was his duty as Chief Geek Protector to intervene as the source of the crashes became evident. Rodney hurled another saucepan at the table behind which Radek was chortling, and John absently noted it bounce into a corner as he strode into the room.
He had made it halfway into the mess hall when he perceived the gross tactical flaw in an otherwise elegant and simple manoeuvre. He had just enough time to process the telltale flash of light reflecting of metal, and hear the horrified warning from McKay before pain burst in his head and his vision was clouded by an explosion of colour. He heard the two scientists calling his name, but their voices were strangely muffled. As the colours faded to grey and the voices receded; he retreated from the pain and drifted into unconsciousness.
Rodney and Radek looked at each other in shock; then back to the unconscious Colonel at their feet. The silence was uninterrupted except for the hollow metallic sound of a frypan bouncing a few paces before coming to rest a few paces away.
Thanks Lauriel, that was great!
I was trying (without luck) to find a useful picture of a frying pan in order to do a manip, but now with this little story, I think we can manage!
But remember, Shep: If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!

I would love to be able to do those manips! Still hunting for software that wont cost me a small fortune. Does anyone know of cheap or freebie software?
I believe that Photoshop Elements is relatively cheap, and from what I've heard, you can do much the same with it as with the full Photoshop version, as long as it's just for amateur usage. Don't know exactly what "relatively cheap" is though...

As for the second half airing in Canada, it normally doesn't until the latter half of November. I remember last year it was close to our Thanksgiving holiday. I'm hoping they'll be sticking to the same schedule!
I know filming of season 3 wraps in October though, and the cast normally has off nov-feb, resume filming in March.
I've had a fairly laid back day with the family around, so I'm not really ready for sleep yet. I'm in the oddest mood, too. Probably should just go get some work done, but I can't be stuffed. Instead I'm just surfing the net and wasting time I could probably use more effectively. Ah well, Sunday night I suppose.
