Never even said she loved him... he was a childhood friend and in the next breath the father of my child...

Rachel also confirmed that they were never married... it all "just happened" probably during a time when Teyla needed some comfort... but her heart is with John.. I think the writers would have confirmed that if we had a season 6.. I think they realised what a lame excuse for a "boyfriend" Kanaan ended up being..

That's what I think too. I think from the timing that Torren was conceived just after Kate's death, and we know she and Teyla were friends and that Teyla tried to get comfort from John but he was distant. I think Teyla lost a good friend and was upset and unhappy, and she turned to an old friend for comfort. Then at the beginning of Missing she's so twitchy about going to New Athos because she hasn't seen Kanaan since this happened and she's not sure what he's going to say or if it will all be tense and unpleasant. She's not looking forward to this conversation. And then the Athosians are missing.

Excellent lengthy post, Scifan! And excellent followups by everyone. I agree completely on every count. The connection between the two is undeniable, and Sam is indeed uniquely qualified to understand it. Love, love, love!

It goes all the way back to season 1 when they first met.. John trusted Teyla the moment he first laid eyes on her (and fell madly in love with her as well).. and this was shown over and over through the years.
I couldn't agree more. Sam is the best person who can empathize with John and his feelings. She's definately done it when it came to Jack and I'm sure she knew why he was willing to go out to look for Teyla eventhough he was in no condition and why he was willing to get court marshalled.

I don't know if Weir didn't understand John, but more that she didn't understand military. She was a civilian that was a diplomat. She had a different way of seeing a situation and trying to find a way to solve it. Military doesn't always get to do that. Sometimes they just have to go in and do what they have to do. And that's why I think there were those times they but heads with each other.
Like in Conversion.... He was sick.. getting worse and his team was risking their lives to find a cure for him. He hated that. Weir saw him sick and he needed to stay behind to get help and also had to consider if he was a risk to the mission. So, who did he lash is anger out on.... Weir. IMO. His attraction to Teyla was hightened by the retro virus and we saw that with the Kiss. And his aggressions were hightened as well and we saw that when he went after Weir..... again... IMO.

Definately... from the beginning and I also think that when John went back to rescue her and his men, she had even more faith and trust him.

Yea but he is the father of Torren, so as much as WE would be alright if he stayed behind.. Teyla wouldn't want him to b/c he should be able to see his baby
          You're welcome.

I think Teyla wanted to save as many of her people she could, so sadly I would have to agree.

So true... not once have I heard that she loves him.

I'm so glad Rachel did that.... especially after Joe Mallozzi's slip on that subject. Rachel always referred to Teyla as a single mom and that she still had feeling for John. I also believe that Rachel wished the would go back and explore their feelings. You can tell she was one of us.

That's a good way of seeing it.
I always thought it was after Travelers. She was worried about him being missing... you could see it her face, but at the end they..... the men.... were talking about "hot alien chicks" and she rolled her eyes. I'm wondering if that made her think that John was more interested in women like Larrin and she went to Kanaan. Then in Tabula Rasa they had to have the gate down for a bit so no visiting then and the next ep was Missing. So either after Doppelganger or Travelers. I guess we'll never know... to bad tptb didn't explain it better

I think Sam and John made a great team because they were both on the same page. I never felt this with Weir or Woolsey..

I don't know if Weir didn't understand John, but more that she didn't understand military.
I agree that she didnt understand the military.. this was very evident in First Strike..but I still feel she never understood John either.. even after 3 years of working together she didnt expect John to side with Ellis so to me that meant that she still didnt really understand John..

I think John's true feelings came out in Conversion.. his frustration at Elizabeth and his feelings for Teyla.. and while his inhibitions were down he acted on those feelings.. lashing out at Weir and kissing Teyla..

but then he didn't turn out being much of anything-almost like a decorative doorknob-okay maybe glorified nanny. Where was he when Michael came back? Did they explain that? I would have thought he would have had the biggest bone to pick with Michael, first of for what he did to Teyla and almost to his son, and then what he was turned into. He really was a lame character.

I forgot I had this... see how close he gets to Teyla before walking away. I saw that scene the other day and Teyla seemed very doting.

Any word from your offworld contacts?

We have received several intelligence reports. However, as of yet there is no news of Lieutenant Ford.

I'd like to read those reports, if you don't mind.

I thought you might -- I prepared you this copy. (She hands him a file.)

                    Thank you! Ladies.

He might have said, "Ladies", but we know who he was paying attention to.

This is my very favorite one, and it's amazingly good! It's not John/Teyla, no more than friendship, but it's excellent. http://penknife.livejournal.com/425910.html

It says it's John/Radek -how graphic is it? I'm not big with the john in a slash setting. But its looks lovely and long.
