John Sheppard/Teyla Emmagan Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
Yes we do... and they just demonstrate the amazing chemistry Joe and Rachel had together and thats why their characters relationship worked so well...
They are just so natural and at ease with each other... this is what we should have had at the end of Eatg...a beautiful show of affection and love from 5 years of loving each other.. and I also think that because it followed immediately after the cameras stopped rolling, that it was Joe and Rachels way of showing us just how great John and Teyla's relationship could have been..
Did they know at that point that they were going to be done with the series-because you are right-should have been a two parter. And its just a bummer that they left so many loose threads. I keep thinking of poor old Todd locked up on earth I have the 2 books and I'm debating whether I should start reading them now or wait till book 3 is out. Hate suspense.
In the mean time any recommendations for favorite fics that are not on fanfic.net?
They knew, but I guess they said they had all the eps written already and had planned EatG to be a cliffhange... in hopes to season 6, but IMO I think they should've got rid of Indenity and extended EatG. They were also hoping for a movie, but unfortunately that isn't gonna happen.
I watched Search and Rescue and The Queen today and noticed some things.....
In S&R, John of course was worried about Teyla and as always he is willing to risk his life and career to save her. He was willing to give it all up... for her. Neither Ronon nor Rodney were willing to ask him not to go this time... vs in The Ark. I think they both knew better. And eventhough Ronon "knew" about Kanaan in SoW.... he wasn't willing to trust him, despite what Teyla said, but John without hesitation stood behind Teyla. There was no further questionings.... he just asked for the gun and for the plan. Not because he trusted or liked Kanaan, but because he believed and trusted Teyla.(I always feel bad for John after Teyla introduces them to Kanaan...... John has the crushed look on his face. awwww) Then there is of course the TJ and John moment in the dart. John has the same excited look and mannerism as he had in Quarentine when he felt Torren kick. John even said, "Wow." and was excited at that moment too. It was a better reaction then Kanaan's...IMO.
I know we didn't get alot of JT moments in Season 5, but I saw some good John feeling for Teyla moments and visa versa. Maybe it's just me, but I think he remained in protective mode with her. We all saw how he was in The Queen. He didn't want her to do it, he hung his head low while waiting for her transformation to be done, then rushed ahead of Ronon and Rodney to see if she was ok. He constantly reassured her that they would be there if she needed them and the he was by her side in the infirmary.
In The Lost Tribe, John pleaded her to leave the tower before it exploded and in The Outsiders he had this type of yell.... to me seemed fearful... as he called out her name when he thought the dart, that Carson and Rodney were in, was going to beam her up.
From Season's 1-4.5 John was there for Teyla when she needed rescuing and so on, but once he found out she was pregnant he was in protective mode.....and I see it carrying on even into S5. IMO. I guess I knew, but my feelings about it got revived after watching the eps again.....
sorry my post was so long and if it seems jumbled... I'm a bit tired.

I really thought the lost tribe was very shippy-with her wanting to stay with him and the look he gave her when he asked her to leave. And when he came to rescue her on Michael's ship and saw that she was in labor, he looked really worried for her, and the part when he said he could not carry her-like it was a given if he was well he would have been the one to carry her. So there were some shippy moments.
Okay Kannan should have been left behind-that would have been okay!

Great post Sci... I don't think I can add more. I think you summed up perfectly how far John would go for Teyla.. and it was ALWAYS John.. this to me showed that it was beyond friendship... he loved her and was willing to even give his life for her.. not once but many times..

Totally agree with this.. just as I've said above - it was always John there for her and she always expected John. Why didnt she call out for Ronon in Search and Rescue or in Vengeance... she never went to Ronon or McKay for a hug .. it was John waiting for her in The Queen, not Kanaan. It was John standing by her side in Eatg... always John..

Yep. He's the one who will do anything for her. The bit that got me was when he tells Sam he's going after Teyla and she can court martial him if she wants to, even though he respects her more than any commanding officer he's ever had. And of course she doesn't, because she's done the same thing for Jack!

Very well said Splv!! LOL! I wouldn't have mine him being left behind either.
And who did Teyla go to to talk about her decision to be Todd's Queen..... John.... not anyone else.

I love that too. He was on death's door and defining his commanding officer's wishes..... How can you deny how he feels there???...... And we know how Sam feels about Jack.

I think Sam understood John probably more than any commanding officer he had served under... I don't think previous military commanding officers ever got the time to know John and just wanted orders followed with no excuses... I never really felt that Dr Weir understood John either... and as Sam had been in John's situation before she knew exactly where he was coming from and how far someone like John would go to save someone they cared/loved.

It goes all the way back to season 1 when they first met.. John trusted Teyla the moment he first laid eyes on her (and fell madly in love with her as well).. and this was shown over and over through the years.

Yea but he is the father of Torren, so as much as WE would be alright if he stayed behind.. Teyla wouldn't want him to b/c he should be able to see his baby
Oh hehe ok thanks!

Yes he is - but to Teyla he didn't seem to mean much more to her as she always just referred to him as "the father of my child".. never any other expression of love or affection..

Yep. She never said "my husband" or even "my boyfriend." Nothing.
