That's so cute. Which con was that again? I loved the story where she crept up behind him at the Chicago con and planted a kiss on his cheek and he turned around and picked her up and swung her around.. awww !!
I hope that we do eventually get the SGA movie so that we can see more of them together.

Hey I was just thinking about the whole John/Teyla/Kanaan situation. What if the reason John wasn't written as the father was because the writers were too lazy to write it in?
I just remembered that in some interview with Rachel, she mentioned that she told the writers she was pregnant when they were writing the episode "Missing". So maybe at first the writers thought John but because they realized that it would take some time to change all the previous scripts for season 4, they decided why not an Athosian. Instead of going the logic way and using John, they chose to make it easy for them and choose a character that was already going to be gone because of Michael.
What do you guys think? Do you think I'm close?Comment

Well it was suggested that they have have John as the father but they decided against it..not sure whether at this stage they had already planned to give McKay his happy ever after with Keller, so they couldnt take the limelight off that relationhship... they got cold feet when it came to having John as the father and therefore we got the out of nowhere Kanaan crap..Originally posted by SGAFirenity View Post

I wouldnt have minded Teyla being taken off the team while she was pregnant... it's not like she could participate in their mission anyway.. and can you imagine the angst the Michael storyline would have produced..and John's reaction to him putting Teyla and his child in danger.. oh the missed opportunities.
... its a sad state of affairs when the actors couldnt believe that their characters relationship was ended with a guy out of nowhere.. but the writers went for the boring and plodding route.. Kanaan...and the rest is history..

I don't think it was to soon for JT to get together, but it would have been out of the blue having a baby. However, they could have easily given it some build up so that it wasn't out of the blue. I bet they didn't have the McKeller planned yet seeing as obviously they didn't have any future for John and Teyla because if they had then they would have figured out a way for John to be the father.Originally posted by bluealien View Post

His line in "The Ark" kills me every time. When he says "It's not the reason I did it." It's like he's really trying to tell her he cares for her without actually saying the words. It breaks my heart that we never got more.
I know it's crazy, I think Kanaan was only in about 2 episodes. Besides that it would have been really awesome to see all of John's reactions to the baby and such. Could you imagine how much more John would of feared for Teyla in "Spoils of War"? Or like you said the whole Michael situation? It would have made the show so much more interesting. Getting to see that side of Sheppard more. "Prodigal" also would have been a way more interesting episode had Sheppard been the father.

They talked about this on one of the commentaries, did thy not? One of the writers (Gero, maybe?) said they were going to make it John but someone (BW, just cause I hates him now anyway) veto-ed it. Said something about it causing too much of an uproar?Originally posted by SGAFirenity View Post
