Still no sound so I'm trying to lip read....

Love how animated Shep was while story telling...all those wonderful expressions.. lucky kids..

Look how easy going and natural his interaction was with Teyla.. so where did the writers suddenly get the notion that Shep felt arkward around women or that he couldnt express his emotions...

he looked like he was doing fine here...

Shows how much they changed his character and took all his vitality and spark away..

I liked McKay back then and even the Shep/McKay banter.. and everyone had a personality...

John is definitely smitten with Teyla.... he's like a giddy little boy around her...

      1. Good follow up to Rising?

I thought it was pretty good.

      2. Do you think they offered the gene therapy to Teyla?

No, I don't think they A.) trust her or her people enough B.) knew how the Athosians would handle the ATA gene.

      3. Does Weir trust Teyla like she says she does?

Um...no. I say that because of the way she handles things in "Suspicions". But, do I think it was unwise to have a level of distrust? No, not necessarily.

      4. Why are the Athosian kids so prominent in the ep when they are barely (if at all ) in it again?

Well, they would have stayed in the show, but after the episode Halling Todd fed on them all.

      5. Why did John choose Teyla for his team?

Because she was their link to the Pegasus Galaxy. And he didn't like the way Kanaan was looking at her off-screen. ROFL

      6. Why did she accept?

      Would you say no?

      7. Do you think John was trying to impress Teyla by telling “scary stories”, or was he just reaching out and letting out his inner child?

I think a little of both. I think Shep is good around kids and it shows here. We know he likes to be a little kid (i.e. throwing McKay off the balcony).

      8. Does Teyla act differently around her people to the Lantians?

She is more relaxed around her people, but then, they value her while those on Atlantis (sans John) are still trying to figure her out.

      9. Is it me (Jess ) or did the Weir/Teyla interaction seem...forced?

Wow, that Jess chick has some great insight. And yeah, I think at time it seemed like it was forced.

      10. Does John and Teyla’s relationship change at all by the end of this ep?

I don't see it. I think he's been trying to pull Teyla into the Earth fold since his introduction on Athos.

          Hide and Seek questions

          1. Good follow up to Rising?

Yes, I thought it was a good lighthearted ep that endeared us to the characters

          2. Do you think they offered the gene therapy to Teyla?

No. I don't think would have considered it possible for it to work on the Athosians. Then again, I don't think they even considered it at all (neither did the writers )

          3. Does Weir trust Teyla like she says she does?

No, I think she is just trying to placate Shep by saying that, she wants him on side and knows that he trusts Teyla immensly.

          4. Why are the Athosian kids so prominent in the ep when they are barely (if at all ) in it again?

I honestly don't know Maybe they had intensions to use them again but it never happened.

          5. Why did John choose Teyla for his team?

As she is an expert of the Pegasus Galaxy who Shep already trusts, he knows she is strong both physically and mentally. She adds a lot to the team.

          6. Why did she accept?

I think this one is harder to answer. I think she had seen that the Lantians had potential and she could achieve something with them, and that they would benefit from her expertise.

          7. Do you think John was trying to impress Teyla by telling “scary stories”, or was he just reaching out and letting out his inner child?

Both, I think they go hand in hand I think he was trying to impress Teyla by impressing the kids, and just enjoying himself, which to him would impress Teyla, she's seen the military man, now she gets to see his fun, laid back side.

          8. Does Teyla act differently around her people to the Lantians?

Yes, I think she is a bit timid around the Lantians

          9. Is it me (Jess ) or did the Weir/Teyla interaction seem...forced?

It seems cold to me, obvious that neither of them trust each other, and they aren't sure whether they should try, they want to but have yet reach out an olive branch to each other.

          10. Does John and Teyla’s relationship change at all by the end of this ep?

Yes, I think by the end of this ep they have a friendship. By the end of Rising they have trust and respect but here they get to know each, in a more relaxed setting and are at ease with each other still.

              1. Good follow up to Rising?

Not bad but a bit too lighthearted after the seriousness of Rising possibly..

              2. Do you think they offered the gene therapy to Teyla?

              Absolutely not...

              3. Does Weir trust Teyla like she says she does?

Absolutely not.. I always found Weir too condensending to Teyla so therefore couldnt buy into any friendship between them in later seasons..

              4. Why are the Athosian kids so prominent in the ep when they are barely (if at all ) in it again?

The kids were the first to go.... though I'm not fond of too many kid eps cough cough Harmony.. then the Athosians and finally the PG natives were forgotten about..

              5. Why did John choose Teyla for his team?

Because he was facinated by her.. saw her strenght and ability to hold her own in a fight and unlike Weir he trusted her and thought a native of the PG galaxy would actually be an asset to his team..

              6. Why did she accept?

Because she trusted John and felt he offered the best opportunity of killing the wraith and keeping her people safe.. and she felt connected to him...

              7. Do you think John was trying to impress Teyla by telling “scary stories”, or was he just reaching out and letting out his inner child?

A bit of both but I always found John a big kid.. but I think his inner child was banished with the rest of the Athosian children..

              8. Does Teyla act differently around her people to the Lantians?

Except for John she is much more at ease around her own people...

              9. Is it me (Jess ) or did the Weir/Teyla interaction seem...forced?

The Weir/Teyla interaction always felt forced to me and after Weirs attitude to Teyla and her people I'm surprised that the ptb suddenly tried to make them seem like they were friends..it never worked for me..

              10. Does John and Teyla’s relationship change at all by the end of this ep?

I think John is even more relaxed around her now and quite eager to spend time with her and his attraction was obvious. I loved how wide eyed he was around her and how they both seemed to instantly connect and like each other...

                  1. Good follow up to Rising?
Nope. I really didn't like this ep.
                  2. Do you think they offered the gene therapy to Teyla?
I think so. I've been writing this into the 3rd ep of season 6. I think, even if they offered it to her, she wouldn't have taken it. She's revered the Ancestors for so long... And, with her Wraith gene... I am of the belief that it wouldn't take, anyway.
                  3. Does Weir trust Teyla like she says she does?
                  Nope.
                  4. Why are the Athosian kids so prominent in the ep when they are barely (if at all ) in it again?
I think the writers were trying to find their feet... seeing how some things were received.
                  5. Why did John choose Teyla for his team?
And what would the conversation be like?
                  6. Why did she accept?
To be part of the fight... It's her way of leading her people...
                  7. Do you think John was trying to impress Teyla by telling “scary stories”, or was he just reaching out and letting out his inner child?
Both? Impressing her by letting out his inner child
                  8. Does Teyla act differently around her people to the Lantians?
Yup. But, obviously. She probably still feels like she is "invading"... as a strong leader, she'll want to have more of a role in Atlantis so... She's trying to refrain, if you know what I mean?
                  9. Is it me (Jess ) or did the Weir/Teyla interaction seem...forced?
Yup. Weir is scared of Teyla.
                  10. Does John and Teyla’s relationship change at all by the end of this ep?

MMmmm. Not really. I don't think it changes until it's Suspicion.

don't worry, soon we won't have to say goodbye.

I think... at the same time that I would like to have seen W/T tension, it could have transgressed into a power fight that would have cliched consequences... but I would like to have seen the writers at least try.

random post, but i think it's appropriate

I asked my 10 year old brother if he wanted to watch Stargate Atlantis with me today. He accepted because he's seen a couple of episodes and loves the space battles like any ten year old boy would. I decided to watch 'search and rescue' with him because it has some great fight sequences and the one question he asks me after the episode was over was "are john and teyla married?"

i thought it was so cute!!! And he is so observant. Even a ten year old boy picks up on this and the writers couldn't! ugh!
