..but I can't see Teyla admiring someone so weak... he had several instances where he could have helped her but he refused.. but suddenly he changes his mind when John and the team show up...

But even JM pretty much admitted Kanaan was a waste of space when he referred to him as the invisible babysitter... not a good discription from one of the writers....

So agree! And I just meant more like John in that he was brave and strong...unlike the weakling Kanaan actually is.... Can you imagine John, even as a hybrid, letting the mother of his child or his child be harmed??? YEAH RIGHT!!! AS IF!!

A typical day around the writers table....

"So guys.. what do we think Teyla and the invisible baysitter should be doing in this episode?"....

The others stare at .. (insert writers name..) "UM...as he's invisible I guess that means we don't have to bother writing anything for him"...

"Oh good, shall we do a Rodney centric episode again then"...

They all nod enthusiastically....

So true! Another throw away character for a strong female lead that was too weak for her. But I have to admit, he was better developed than the invisible babysitter!!

I like your thoughts on this...however, although I agree that it wouldn't have been fair and right if John and Teyla had had a one nighter and then boomm baby, isn't that what they pretty much did anyways with introducing Kanan? didn't Teyla just say to John, it just happened? So, which character were they most concern about, John or Teyla?

That was a poor excuse to not use John as the father of the baby. They could have done a number of things, just like Kanan was a hidden love interest, why couldn't they have said that John and Teyla had been secretly dating as well.

The foundation between those two have been there all along since Season 1 and no one but Rodney would have been surprised by it all. Ronon wouldn't have been, Weir wouldn't have been, nor Carson, nor anyone else!

It could have been done. And it could have been done well and believable. Of course you'd always get those that would puke and hate it, but that I could have lived with. :O

Honestly, I think the writers were just lazy! They didn't want to have to make too much of a change in how the storyline was going, and making such an interesting storyline like John being the father was just too much work for them so they create the throwaway and basically ruin Teyla.

I totally agree Camy. It could have been just as plausible to announce that John and Teyla had become more than friends than just to announce Teyla had been secretly seeing some unknown guy and the pregnancy just happened. It was obvious it wasnt planned and we don't even know how serious they were about one another.. friends that became something else... isnt that exactly what John and Teyla were.. so again why was it such a stretch to belileve that they became something more.

I think the writers panicked about John becoming a father and had some rediculous notion that John would be doing something inappropriate if he had a relationship with Teyla. Well if this was the case then there would be no relationships between any of the characters as they all work in close proximity to one another... and it didnt seem to bother the writers when they hooked McKeller up... didnt they worry that it would be inappropriate for a Doctor to start dating her patient.. sigh..

Seeing John become a parent could have opened up so much more for his character but like Teyla he got shoved to the background with the solitary man persona... again they don't need to spend much time on doing anything with his character if there's no emotional interactions with anyone.. John just became the cliched carboard cut out soldier... living to go on suicide missions.. and the writers seem to think you lose your zest for life when you become a mother.

What I would like to know is why didn't they just do an episode of flashbacks that showed how they came to be in a relationship? They could have had John injured (like usual) and in a series of flashbacks show that he and Teyla had gotten together, like he was reflecting on how much she meant to him when he thought he was gonna die and then of course he would be saved. THAT would have made more sense than Kanaan!

It would have been amazing for both their characters. And I hate the whole solitary alone John thing. Why do they have to belittle the character by making him seem like just a womanizer (like in Remnants with that botanist??) They just seem to belittle his character too much! He's a hero - he deserves a hero like Teyla!!

Well, the final news verdict on the SCSs yesterday.... there were three SCS strength storms within 120 minutes. (making them a half hour to 45 minutes apart for each wave.) There was one confirmed death. a 62 year old from Jasper County (south east of my area) Three confirmed tornado touchdowns wthin half an hour of each other in three different counties. All in all. Life in GA is crazy, it is springtime now, i'm ready for winter again when the weather is calmer....

Also... I survived Samonella poisoning!!

Thank God that you made it through the Samonella poisoning! I hope you feel 100% soon.

And I'm sorry to hear about what happened in your area. I live in Florida a mile from the beach, and I know that waiting out some of those storms can be terrifying.

I've been trying to go back and respond to each of them by chapter, but I still have over 300 to answer. Which I really want to do because I love answering them and hearing what people think! And this time around I'm really trying to be good and keep up with answering my reviews for the Vegas tag!

I too have have a rough time lately and I just wanted to say that I love to just come on this thread and read all the thoughts, stories, see the art and fan fic and it gives me some escape from all the stressful things going on.

Last July, my daughter, Mikayla who was 11 at the time, was sexually fondled by her friends father as she spent the night at their house. She never told us what happened. The guys ex-wife told us after he had bragged to his brother about what he did. We pressed charges against him and he was also stupid enough to send 3 text messages to my husband APOLOGIZING!! for what happened. Anyway, finally just yesterday we went to court and he was found guilty of a 2nd degree coercion offense against a minor under 14. We have to wait for sentencing about a month, but here in Nevada child protection laws are extremely strict and he could go go jail for 2 -10 years.
My daughter is a trooper and has been very brave thoughout. The DA even told us that she was a perfect witness.. I am very proud of her and I just wanted to finally get this off my chest. I know from all of the support that everyone here gives everyone else, that you all gave me comfort everytime I was here even if no one ever knew.

I was ASTOUNDED at the number of reviews (778 I think?) but really, with everything that happened, including the cancellation of SGA, the reviews kept me writing. Same with the new fic. If I don't think people like it, I tend to post a lot slower I guess. I will keep writing (cos I can't stop!) but I am more hesitant to put myself out there, so the reviews really help me.
