I guess summer is fully upon us, and everybody is running around like crazy. I'm finally finished with home improvement projects for the moment and am now planning our vacay for the fall to Las Vegas and Sedona.

Ack. Just about everyone in LA always gets pissed off whenever he comes out here because it always makes traffic a clusterfrak. Whole lot of UCI grads were not happy about their graduation being turned into a PITA this year when he came out to speak for that.

Even though I'm off work for the next two months I cannot get my head in place to write or do anything productive fandom-wise. Although that might be because I just gained a few new ships. Word to the wise: never start shipping a pair from a Joss Whedon show that no longer airs. It's only gonna crush you, rip your heart out of your chest, and cut it up.

Howdy Sparkies! All this talk of school..... I had to take a week long class for work and just 1 week taxed my brain. I think I'm beyond the point of returning to school at this point in my life. I'm so proud of all of you who are doing it!!

Did they ever tell us on SGA where John and Elizabeth went to college?

Didn't they indicate at some point that she went to Georgetown? Or was that fandom? And the only mention in connection with John was when he said his father's idea of rebellion was his going to Stanford instead of Harvard. But it was never confirmed that he went to Stanford.

That was my understanding too - lecturing at Georgetown but not confirmed that she attended as a student, and likewise no confirmation with John.

I like how the Government's idea of 'mixing it with the people' involves getting rid of the people (yes, I understand the security risk, the value of their time etc, I was just being facetious)

As we drove into the city, we saw 2 police helicopters circling an area that is restricted airspace. That's a clue that POTUS is on the move. Our friends came in from the opposite direction and said they had to take a number of detours because of closed streets. But that's life in the nation's capital. It's just harder this time of year with all the tourists…but I won't get started on them. Come on to visit. It's your city after all. I just try to stay out of DC in the summer.

Yes, indeed. We're pretty used to it here and laugh when the news reports how POTUS or FLOTUS or some such has just suddenly decided to go out for ice cream or walk across the street to a restaurant. Like the Secret Service would allow that. Hahaha. Those out of town trips when they drop in on a local diner and talk to the people are planned way in advance right down to the minute. And anyone meeting the Prez is scrutinized beforehand. I went to a political rally during the last election and got to shake hands with the candidate. On TV you see them going down the line shaking hands and it all looks spontaneous. In actuality, the Secret Service agent goes ahead of them and shouts "Show me your hands" at you. Then you get the nod, but you better not put that hand back down again. It was scary and exciting all at the same time.

I think we get around 2 million visitors for the blossoms. All of them not watching where they are going and wandering around with mouths open going "ahhhh". They are purdy though. The blossoms, not the tourists.
