True math confession. My latest math-related fiasco was when I was making plans for my son's rehearsal dinner. I miscounted and had to call the restaurant back and change the total from 20 to 22. I WAS COUNTING A LIST OF NAMES. Who can top that?

I can't decide on what the best joke would be in response to this. Any of them would probably get me whacked upside the head, so perhaps I'll behave this time.

Love it. I'm decent in math, I guess. People say that I could go into it if I wanted to, but I'm more of a liberal arts girl.

I'm getting confused by this left/right hand and left/right brain talk. I'm right-handed and love to write. As I said, I'm decent in math but don't actually like it that much. However, I can think logically and am organized. I have an uncanny memory. I'm not extremely creative. Not quite sure what all of this makes me.

I've been reading a book called The Lexicographer's Dilemma by Jack Lynch for my AP English class this year. It's about the history of the English language and how it has evolved over time. It also talks about what "proper" English means and the ongoing debate about who gets to say what's right. I found this book utterly fascinating, and I also learned a new word while reading it. Logophile. It means a lover of words, which perfectly describes me. The author writes in such a witty, satirical style that it's hard not to be engrossed in the material. I totally recommend this book to anyone who has the slightest bit of interest in the history of the English language.
