Knowing my background, you are probably thinking I feel the same way, and I used to. Now I only read on my iPad unless there's no other choice. I never thought I'd give up the tactile sensations of reading an actual book, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Now I have hundreds of books at my fingertips, don't have to pack a "book bag" for vacations and can read whatever I'm in the mood for. The downside is having to pay for them, but even that has led me back to some of the classics. Being cheap, I do find that I sometimes have to discard a few of the freebies from Amazon before I email the author a corrected version full of red ink. Mr. SR and I share our Kindle account, which has broadened the horizons of both of us.

Access to the library would be the upside; I know you can get your hands on tons of books. I have an iPad and all the Austens on ebook, but I can't give up paper, I just can't. The smell of it...ahhhhhhhhhh. Nothing like walking into a bookstore (I prefer used) and walking out with crinkly parchment full of the written word.

Nothing makes me happier than a good bookstore, but for daily fiction reading, I prefer the ebooks. I used to go to the library with my canvas bag and come out with it full of books that I had to hurry and read or renew. Now I just click. Our library has a borrowing system for ebooks, but so far it's so successful you can never get a book. LOL The problem is they only have one available copy of each book, which made Mr. SR headdesk and repeat.

Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Smutty Tuesday!

Ah, ebooks. I do love the feel of the printed page between my fingers, but I sure don't miss lugging around heavy books all the time. I think I'm still traumatized from high school and college on that one.

Only one copy of each ebook? Are they nuts?

It's all about the naughtiness with those two.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I'm a total ebook-reader I love that the books I read are cheap (most of them between 1 and 3 quid) and that I can download them instantly

but hey, Annelantis - I have a printed copy (brand new; never read it) of Exogenesis. I'm trying to get rid of the SG-Books anyway. They're only collecting dust on the shelf due to me only using my Kindle... so if you want it PM me. I'm sure we can sort something out

I had it easier because books were a lot thinner when I was in school and college. There wasn't as much to learn.

C'mon, SR. Don't make the jokes so easy for me. I feel like Chandler in the episode of Friends where he had to refrain from being funny.

Same with me. I always had all my books with me "just in case" - took my back years to recover from school college and university!

The sad thing is, they've made books bigger and put more information into them, but I don't remember one class last year (freshman year for my student) when they actually went through the entire book.

And I'm back to work in two weeks. I'm already in mourning for my summer vacation.
