In this case I'd be SR's younger sister.

So you're both my aunts. And I'm the crazy niece that talks to herself in two languages.

Honey if we are sisters, our parents waited a long time between kids, but I appreciate the idea.

I have cousins your age who call me "aunt", so that would work. I know that's weird, but in the South we do that out of respect. You never call a much older person by their first name. Plus, it confuses the Yankees. *snicker* Sadly, that custom is falling out of favor though.

No, no, no!! Everyone has the right to express their thoughts and perspectives.
Oh, so now you're ignoring me...

I think you're halfway to China by now. Perhaps time to let go.

If you want to ignore my views, you are more than allowed to do so, but at least have some respect. That's all I'm asking here.

You wanna know why I'm in this thread -- I like it here. I like the people in here. Sure, my main pairing isn't Sparky. I kinda need John for someone else. But when I first started posting in here (which is a long time ago) I was excepted into this dysfunctional family, and these guys they rock and made me feel welcome. Times have changed, people have come and gone, but one thing remains the same... we all love pretty much the same thing so we either respect that or (we get in trouble with the mods) we ignore that which we do not wish to see or do not like to see.

Short version - You respect me as a fan (no matter what I like or not like (which isn't Sparky btw)) and I respect you (no matter what you like, or don't like).

Anyway... with that out of the way... Allons-y Allonzo!

A wee bit dysfunctional but happy nonetheless.

Well I have a brother who is 19 years older than I am. And my parents were old enough to be your parents as well. Next month they would have been 84 and 88.

I notice they do this in Jane Austen books too. In Pride and Prejudice Jane is talking about taking care of the Gardiner's kids (who are her cousins) but she refers to them as her nieces and nephews. Then in Sense and Sensibility they call Fanny "Aunt Fanny" even though she's really their sister-in-law. But at least they pronounce "aunt" the RIGHT way.

Yes, yes she is. When scifan and I both posted on their thread here we had a good laugh about it being a ship we actually agreed about (she's a big John/Teyla fan). But we respect each other's preferences even if we don't agree with them. That's all we're really talking about here.

Since age differences between siblings have been brought up, the age difference between my dad and his younger sister is 20 years.

Thank you again I might just leave the caps there for now this time, every time I try to carry it on the quality tends to drop

Moving onto the 'The Eye' issue, I agree with Falcon Horus. Looking at it logically, Joe is the star of the show so of course they would give him the hero moment. John was also the ranking officer, and presumably the better shot (although that's merely conjecture), and the way in which Kolya was holding Weir was more like a shield than the way in which McKay was being held, so their was a greater chance that Weir would get injured in any 'rescue'. John taking responsibility here was no different to Cam doing the same in SG-1's s10 opener, where he booted Marks out of the pilots seat to go and scoop Carter up. There was/is a tonne of criticism on the anti-s10 thread for doing that, but it isn't so much a commentary on piloting skills, its the assuming of responsibility in a risky situation so that the junior officer isn't responsible for killing their superior.

But all of that said, look at the way he reacts after Kolya is gone. That is the sparky moment, that is the bit where he shows concern for her beyond what he really should. That part screams ship to me

The only bit I've seen with him in it is near the end of 10's run, where he does something to the communication system i think? I don't think I'd be happy with any Who character - I'm not really into these themed weekends but everyone else seems to enjoy them

You mean the same as a small insect? Then yes they do.

I had forgotten about that in the Austen books. I'm thinking the custom came over here with the immigrants who settled the South. Other areas may do it too, but I'm not aware of it.

K9 was one of my favorite Who characters, and Sarah Jane will always be my favorite companion. We could have an old Who vs the new generation argument, but let's not and say we did.
